Contract wait for Fowler |
|
Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler is still waiting to find out whether he will be offered a new contract to extend his second spell with the Reds beyond the end of the season. Fowler netted the only goal of the game as Liverpool won 1-0 at Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, scoring for the fourth time in five games for Rafa Benitez's side. However, a decision on an extended deal won't be made until the summer, with Benitez saying: "We need to analyse more things. "If I say no it will be difficult for me, but he will understand, and if I say yes it will be good for me, him and the supporters. "I am not in a hurry, but if he continues to score goals then it will be an easy decision. The more he scores, the more he's likely to stay. "He is a very good professional. It's not a problem whether or not he has a contract. He is working hard because he loves Liverpool." Fowler himself added: "I feel okay at the moment. I'm not finishing many games, but it's the manager's prerogative whether he wants to keep me on. "I feel as though I could stay on for the 90, but the manager has a decision to make and if he feels I'm not as fit as what I should be, then it's up to him." |
