It was obvious Fiorentina wanted pens as soon as the 2nd Everton goal went in.

I'd like to remind everyone that the game was played for 180 minutes, over two legs. Everton deserved to win on the night, but then Fiorentina deserved to win the other week... Both teams could've won it outright in their respective home ties, but didn't. It went to penalties and that's the way it goes.

Why did the stewards push Fiorentina's players to the floor when they were trying to celebrate with their fans though?

i think that is what they have to do. thats is the rules right. they are not aloud to go to thre own fans.

Why though? The games over - they don't need to restart do they? Which is why i thought they did it... To save time. I hope it's not safety reasons, 'cause that'd be pathetic.

I was just going to ask if they deserved it more than Fiorentina deserved to bury the tie in the first leg? Ben seems to have reminded some people of Fiorentina's dominance in the first.

I don't know what happened in the second leg though, so i can't say.

What do other people think ?

I want Fiorentina to win. They show great promise and since they cannot win Serie A they should win this one at least. Next season I expect them to be Serie A contenders.

To be fair, Everton were excellent in this leg tonight. They made Fiorentina look lethargic with their very robust and enthusiastic attitude... And it paid off with pretty much 90 minutes of dominance, similar to Fiorentina's in the first leg. Frey kept them in it with some fine saves really (albeit was at fault for the first).

I didn't expect Everton to stand much of a chance of progressing - i thought Fiorentina would do them in on the break - but they controlled the game and looked composed throughout, so credit to them for that.

Everton V's Fiorentina (2nd Leg) [Agg 0 - 2 ]
