I've started a poll to see your opinion but I know mine so I'll get the ball rolling.

Are there stats to show that British clubs don't win penalty shootouts as much as European clubs?

I can't really answer because Liverpool always seem to do very well in them.

Why isn't mental strength/confidence in the poll?

You can have all that and still miss but I do see your point and maybe Chimbonda needs some of that I don't understand why another player didn't have a bash. I still think PSV played quite a negative game in the second leg. I'm convinced they wanted pens and I know Robbo isn't a great penalty stopper, and I bet they did and played for it.

No but the question was poised last night on Channel 5 so it made me think.

Chimbonda also supplied the sublime cross, that Berbz converted, that kept us in the game. It rests on everybody's shoulders. I think a golden goal is much more fair.

Yep was it Cudicini or Cech in goal? I rate them both above our Robbo

Well i dont believe its British Clubs that dont seem to win penalty shoot outs often. More the British players have the wrong mentality and dont practice as much as other nationality players.

I wish we had Liverpool's luck, skill, bottle, fortune - whatever you want to call it - in penalty shootouts.
Their record is amazing.

Ben, Sticky, Tez or whoever: how many shootouts have Liverpool won during their history? The percentage must be extraordinary.

Wink

I've no idea what our overall record is though... I think when we were facing Chelsea it was something like we'd won the last 10 of 11 shoot-outs. Something damn good anyway.

EDIT: I've looked around and i can't find any stats on it - maybe Sticky or Tez can find something...
