I don’t believe you fearing Arsenal over Man Utd. You battered Arsenal 4-1 last season! OK, they beat you in the cups, but Man Utd virtually always have your number (apart from the FA Cup tie at Anfield two seasons ago).

Why not fear Arsenal more? They had us pinned back for most of the game last team we played them, and we were at home. I was scared!

We may have beaten them 4-1 last season, but they also spanked us twice. Besides, Arsenal have improved so much since then. Back then we were better than them.

Also, against Man U we've been dealt a bad hand on last 3 occasions at home. Terribly unlucky. We outplayed them in all 3 of those fixtures, so it would be a great way of getting back at them. Surely they couldn't get lucky for a 4th time?

Quote:
Controversy surrounded the Champions League draw today after the full slate of quarter-final ties - including Liverpool v Arsenal, Manchester United v Roma and Chelsea v Fenerbahce - were predicted nearly two hours in advance on the internet.

Though there is no suggestion that anything untoward occurred, details of a supposedly 'rigged' draw emerged on various websites at 10.28am on Friday morning.

It was claimed that the odds of anyone guessing the full draw - including which quarter-final winners would be drawn against each other in the semi-finals - were 191/1.

A UEFA spokesman said: "There is no way the draw was rigged. This was a draw made in front of millions of television viewers and in front of the officials and management of all the club. I just don't see how that can be possible. The balls were not marked at all, they were put in the bowls and shuffled around before they were drawn. I was at the draw this morning and it was all done properly. I cannot understand how this happened."

Someone was Surprised

That’s why I said you’re scared of them – because you fear losing to them. You fancy yourselves against everyone else but when your boys step onto the pitch with Ronaldo, Rooney etc. you’re worried. I’d say most if not all Man Utd fans aren’t scared of drawing Liverpool at all.

But you're insinuating that we are scared of United because we can't "turn them over", which is backed up by your point about Ronaldo and Rooney. I'm not afraid of competing against them - because we have done very well in the past - i only fear losing to them because of the rivalry. I don't think we'd lose, but the possibility (which you'd be stupid to ignore) of us going out to them is not a great one. It's different to Arsenal, who i fear playing because their style of football rips us apart... I don't fear going out to them as such though.

Losing a derby/grudge match is bad, but losing it in the biggest competition in club football makes it 10 times worse. That's the fear of playing United.

As Sticky said, we can match United football wise, which we struggle to do against Arsenal.

My point is that United fans would fancy taking on Liverpool more than Liverpool fans would fancy taking on United. That's the vibe I get from the hundreds and hundreds of glory hunting Man Utd and Liverpool fans who live in Luton anyway.

Forget matching Arsenal football wise - this is a results business. And recent history suggests that Liverpool have a better chance against Arsenal than they do against Man Utd, although both records are pretty poor I agree.

Quarter-Final Draw - Who will get who ?
