England ladies to join PFA |
|
Sky Sports News had an article about the England international players have been invited to join the PFA (Professional Footballers Association).
They aren't professionals, unlike the men, but it's a step in the right direction, eeven if it doesn't yet apply to other players. They chatted to Faye White, who was happy about it, as was Hope Powell. If SSNews do their usual business of repeating things hourly, it should be shown again at around 20mins to the hour. |

I saw the second showing of this (well, it was the second that I saw), and according to Hope Powell there will be benefits for the players, and it is hoped (pun not intended) that it will move to other players.
Apparently Fulham players were able to join in the long-gone days when they were professionals, but they reckon that there are no professionals now. I was always under the impression that if anyone receives payment (other than expenses), however little, then they are regarded as professional. I thought that Arsenal ladies (for example) received payment, so why are players in the England squad who play for a team that pays nothing - so are total amateurs, be allowed membership of PFA when Arsenal ladies who don't play for England are not offered membership? Anyway - it should be on SSNews next at around 10.35, or a bit later |
