No new contract for Donadoni |
|
It seems the Italian FA does not intend to extend national coach Roberto Donadoni's contract before Euro 2008.
The Italian national team will go to Euro 2008 this summer with a coach who will probably leave at the end of the competition. It seems the Italian FA are already on the lookout for Roberto Donadoni's replacement, with Carlo Ancelotti reportedly the favorite, despite the fact the AC Milan repeatedly confirming their current coach. According to many Ancelotti's cycle with the Rossoneri is at an end, after a season which was essentially a failure both domestically and in the Champions League. However, Adriano Galliani has always said he has no intention of letting Ancelotti go. It seems that Donadoni was not satisfied when he was told his permanence at the guide of the Azzurri was not guaranteed unless the team finished at least fourth. However, FIGC boss Giancarlo Abete does not want to get too worried about this, and underlined the good relationship there is between the Federation and the current coach. The rumours surrounding Donadoni's future should not compromise the atmosphere within the Azzurri's camp, which is crucial to obtain good results. Roberto Donadoni's contract expires on 18 July, and eventual talks of a renewal will take place only after that date. |
