I voted for Lianne, I don't think she gets a fair chance with hope

I went with Sanderson , same reason's as Byrnie. She deserves a chance in a starting position and should remain for the 90 mins instead of being sub after 45. She's proved she can play in big games and her goal stats this season speak for themselves.

I went for Lianne.
Her goal tally is excellent, but there is a lot more to her game than just scoring.

I agree with smithy - she should get 90 minutes to prove her worth.

But, there are others that could have an international future - Katie Anderton should certainly get a chance.

If Sanderson can't get a starting berth there's no hope for Anderton , not with a certain player keep getting picked.

Yes - I agree there smithy Sad

If Katie ever gets a chance, she'll be brought on a sub, and unless she scores in the 15 minutes she's on - that's that.

I've not followed the England women's team for very long (although I'm pleased to say I was at the game where Lianne scored her first goal for England Wink)

But - managers of England's men's team have, historically, often ignored form players and kept their favourites in the team. They give others lip service and an occasional chance, but that's it Sad

Maybe the women's team is going the same way Sad

Just so you know, btw, I follow the England women's team even though I'm Welsh (but I follow Wales too, of course).
When it comes to England men's team, I'll quote what former Wales international goalkeeper (and from my town) said on Sky Sports News last week when asked what England should do: "I'm Welsh - I don't give a monkey's" Very Happy

We know you only follow the girls Twm Laughing

I hope the girls team isn't following the mens. If you are the player in form you should be picked , at least to be given a chance of say 60 minutes. Even in friendlies you never see say Sanderson and Anderton playing up front together. Or any other striker for that matter. Sue Smith seems to be a last 5 minuted sub.

Yes - Sue doesn't get much of a chance, does she? Sad

I don't know the stats for England women's games, but no regular England men's player has scored more than one goal every 2 games. So - they'd have to be on for 4 games for one half, or 18 games as sub for 5 minutes to equal that.

Maybe Sue or Lianne have upset Hope, like Rodney Marsh upset Alf Ramsey many years ago - although I doubt it, as they are still in the squad Smile

I think it is just a question of who Hope fancies as a player.
She thinks Yankey is better than Sue Smith or Stoney better than Unitt.
If the she thinks Aluko is better than every other center forward that's her choice, not that I approve it Wink

It appears not - on here anyway, as she has no votes yet.

I know this is off-topic, but referring to shlj's post above, I thought Rachel U had a better game than Casey Stoney on Sunday - not that Casey was bad, but Rachel was very good, and it was hard to see how she's out of favour.
Hope was at Everton - Leeds FA semi, so should have had a good idea about her ability.

Rachel wasn't even used at the world Cup either for some reason. I do prefer Unitt to Stoney in the defensive , but as we've seen with the forwards if Hope prefers her favourites then the others won't get a chance other than sub.

The choice might be tough, but maybe there's a way of playing both - especially if she can use Emily Westwood behind the lone striker as in the game v Czechs.
