A yankee could buy Roma |
|
I have read that a man from California called John Joseph Fisher could buy Roma paying €250m euros. If it was true, would Roma fans like it? Perhaps would have more money to sign players.
Some british fans like the money coming from foreign owners and some don't, but I don't know which is the opinion of italian fans if it happens. Still that in clubs like Milan don't think that it happens because Berlusconi is rich enough |

I'm not sure. More money will be great but if these new owners would revolutionize the team It won't be good for the balance of the dressing room.
Moreover a foreign owner I don't know if it'll change the identity of the club, actual owners are also supporters of Roma, they love the city and the team. Winning with the actual owners would taste differently I think |

Soros Wants Lippi At Roma
American billionaire and political activist George Soros is looking increasingly likely to take-over the Giallorossi. Yesterday Roma issued a statement in which they admitted that they were in talks with Soros to sell the club. “An interview and exploratory meeting took place last week with a representative from Inner Circle Sports,” they confirmed. The Corriere della Sera now claims that one of Soros’ first moves as owner will be entice Marcello Lippi to join him at Roma. The Paul Newman-look-alike will not replace Luciano Spalletti as coach, but instead will work in a higher managerial role at the club, helping to co-ordinate all footballing matters. This would then leave Soros and his Americans to develop the Roma product and brand, and to deal in the fields of marketing, merchandising and the exploitation of revenues from the stadium and surroundings. Lippi has been out of the game since leading Italy to World Cup glory in the summer of 2006. He had revealed his intention to return to coaching next season, although it remains to be seen whether he would accept a different position to this at Roma. Berlusconi Trying To Block Roma Takeover? There are reports in the peninsula that Milan President and soon-to-be Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi is trying to use all of his power to prevent Roma being taken over by foreign investors. The Giallorossi look almost certain to be sold due to the fact that the club’s parent company, Italpetroli, possess debts in the region of €370m. A whole host of foreign businessmen have been linked with a takeover, including Americans John Joseph Fisher and George Soros, as well as the Emir of Dubai. Earlier today Roma finally admitted that they were in talks with Soros, and it seems only a matter of time until the club is sold to overseas investors. It has been reported that Berlusconi is furious over the possibility of an Italian club selling to foreigners, and believes that by doing so Serie A will be following the English Premiership in selling their soul to foreigners. Berlusconi is well known to be a proud nationalist, and is believed to be willing to use all of his power in politics and the media to prevent Roma from being sold to foreign investors. However the 71-year-old’s spokesman has rubbished these reports, saying they are completely untrue. “It's impossible to think that a man like Berlusconi, who loves football, can be against an operation of this type. It's an urban legend, completely invented,” stated Paolo Bonaiuti. Berlusconi already done this years ago when Roma was about to sell to russian investors, we'll see if he'll succeed also this time |
