Get over it!

Sheesh!

He's right mate, it really was! Wink

PS - I've just noticed that Jamie Carragher is exactly two days younger than me. Yet he couldn't be any more different. I can speak English, I am calm and I am well liked ( Exclamation ) Whereas he's just a pikey! Seriously though, he'd be my choice as captain of Liverpool. He shows far more passion and desire than Steven Gerrard does, in my opinion. So what if he's 30? That's young! Smile

Gerrard is not a leader and should not be the Captain of Liverpool Football Club and I have held that opinion from day one. He is insecure and needs to be constantly loved, he turns against every manager, he acts like he is bigger than the club and he almost left for Chelsea because he didn't feel wanted (not that the money and chance of the title didn't factor in).

Capello is not stupid and Gerrard will not be his captain.

Who would you have as captain Wtebar? There is no one better qualified in my opinion. Yes, Gerrard showed [beep!] all yesterday. He has gone missing in big games far to often recently. It looked as if he new from the off that we would not win, and conceeded defeat very early on. However, to say there is a better candidate in the squad is simply untrue. If you were to mention our vise-captain Carragher, who always shows heart etc, then i would say nope. I cant see him being a regular for much longer. i cant wait for agger to return to get some class on the ball at the back.

Your captain needs to be a leader of men, someone with passion who will stand up in the face of adveristy and inspire with his word and deed.

Fernando Torres is on his way to becoming Liverpool captain in his first Season which shows just how much better he is than anyone else at the club. I wouldn't give him the armband based on two reasons. One he is too young and two he doesn't need the extra exposure. He's happy doing what he's doing and he's the best player in our side bar none.

Mascherano might be a good shout because it would force him to think about the team more. I won't have a pop at him for being sent off but if he had a team to back him up I wonder would he have been? He definetly has the fire and he is definetly a great player in the making but I wonder about his leadership.

Centrebacks usually make for great captains and Skrtel in the future has that edge to him that I think would make him a fantastic captain. Agger great player though he could be does not strike me as a captain.

To answer your original point though, no one stands out but Carragher and Hyypia. I would have had Carra as the captain before recent days and I would still rather he was captain than Gerrard but I think you have raised a very salient point. We have no born leaders in the team who would benefit from the armband. I'd still take it off Gerrard after that showing though but I see your point.

I must admit that wtebar has made some good posts but Im unsure on the Gerrard one. I can see your point though, he does disappear in some games but as far as yesterday goes, well nothing was gonna stop Javier going to the Ref, not even Rafa. Bennett is an idiot but thats another post.... Infact Im one of the few who was glad Javier stuck up for what he believed in, he ran across cause he seen his team mate get the crap kicked outta him then get booked for having the audacity to actually have a moan! Javier did the right thing but at totally the wrong time I guess...

Once he was sent off Gerrards role was extremley limited, he had to sit back and getting forward was a no no. As for Stevie being captain, for now I think he should be but nobody is bigger than the club, that is a solid fact.

I find it quite funny how nobody was moaning when we went on a 7 game unbeaten streak but as soon as we lose v utd, the moaning starts. The defeat shows us that we need to get rid of dead wood (Crouch,Voronin,Benayoun to name a few) and buy more quality players...question is, will Hicks hand the money over?

Benayoun and Crouch deadwood?

One of our best players this season and our top scorer last season!

Correct. Crouch isnt what we need anymore, 6ft plus and he cant head the ball. Some excellent touches yes but lay offs dont win football games.

Benayoun just doesnt do it for me. Simple as

Fair enough, but i think he has done well.

If he is deadwood, then what the heck is Kuyt?

I can understand people thinking Kuyt is dead wood but he runs his plumbs off each and every game, not for one minute can his work rate be in question. He has had a bad season yes but he's not what I would call "deadwood"

I admire players that do that... Little steven Pienaar runs all over the park when he plays.

We should just get a long distance runner on right wing if football ability doesn't count!

Kuyt is awful on right wing. He was fine upfront last Season when he was allowed to do what he did but then Rafa got hold of him and slowly but surely destroyed him.

I disagree. The death of his father affected him badly and his form. He's on the right as we're short in that area and even though he's a striker I think he's doing an ok job, not great but ok.

We need a world class winger(s) as we lack width big time

I heard a lot from Liverpool fans about this winning streak but let's look at those games:

Inter at home (against 10 men)
Middlesbrough at home
Bolton away
West Ham at home
Newcastle at home
Inter away (against 10 men)
Reading at home

Yes, Liverpool did well to win them all and Torres scored loads of goals, but once he comes up against a top defence he's stubbed out like a cigarette.

Inter only had ten men (twice). Hardly a fair reflection on their defensive capacity, even less so when you consider that they had both Materazzi and Cordoba missing in the San Siro.

He scored against Chelsea when he skinned Tal Ben Haim - Chelsea's FOURTH choice centre back.

Would you call Porto's defence top? Confused

Torres might start to score regularly against the big teams but let's just keep on the ground - I expected Rio and Vidic to deal with him and deal with him they did. I thought he played OK yesterday but he was too isolated. He needs help up there in my opinion. Kuyt is not the answer.

Porto don't have the best defence in the world, but it's probably better than Arsenals! They obviously a good team, their record in the Champions League makes that clear to see. Their defence can't be that bad, look at how much Chelsea struggled against them last season.

You can't really expect him to do well against the best defences when he has little or no support.

He has scored against Real Madrid, Barca and Valencia in the past.

Kuyt form went to [beep!] not because Benitez saw he would run his ass off and dropped him further and further from goal but because his arl fella died?

If that's the case just how many dads' has Riise got?
