It could only be an Everton fan to be deluded enough to think this is the biggest and best derby in Britain. Same thinking that saw you adopt the 'people's club' moniker. I accept for bitter blues this is their cup final and it must grate that Liverpool's most important games are against more successful and prestigious clubs than you. Biggest and best derby my arse!

What did I tell you? Unrealistic expectations. Laughing

Tell me, what exactly is your problem?

How about you post some things on your own team instead of the constant put downs and smartarse remarks towards Liverpool Football Club.

Are these so called "posts" of yours designed to deflect your own teams years of shortfalls away from discussion or even your own memory?

in future, if you have nothing constructive to add to the conversation, dont say anything at all.

Thank you.

Im not a fan of the merseyside derby. The so called "friendly derby" is no more and hasn't been for many years. Friends become enemies & banter has become vicious threats.

The sooner this is over with, the better.

Agreed. The hate just burns so deep there. It's not just about the club rivalry or the location - it's religion.

Celtic/Rangers games are boring. Huge build up then nothing. Maybe the fans do hate each other but that's all that fixture has to offer.

I can't agree with that. Very passionate games and once I seem to remember 5-0 for Rangers and 5-0 for Celtic in the same Season.

Yeah that is kind of the problem!

For passion just as a football fixture the merseyside derby matches any inter city derby in the world.

The exception. For the most these games are how I described them, boring.

im a Liverpool fan (and celtic) but i can admit that the old firm is far bigger than the merseyside derby , might not be as much quality on show , but the passion is unreal , oh and both teams have the same sort of quality of squads , well maby celtic have a slightly better team but theres not the same amount of difference as the difference between torres and yakubu , and gerrard and arteta or cahill , or neville and carragher , and usualy reina and howard ..(all the Liverpool names being the better of the quality:P)
so its a fairly balanced game interms of quality , whilst the merseyside derby is just a walk for Liverpool , nah only joking toffees , it should be a good game , ending 3-1 to Liverpool:) torres hatrick Smile

I would say it was the best british derby during the glory days of the 80's when Liverpool and Everton were the best teams in england, the rivalry was superb back then when we had 2 cup finals against each other and always competed for the league title, but now it isn't as fierce anymore and i look forward to playing Chelsea,United and Arsenal more these days,so i would say the Glasgow derby is much more fiercer nowadays..

But i do think the influx of foreign players hasn't helped, back in the 80's all merseyside derbies very rarely had many foreigners which gave more spark to the games

The 1989 FA Cup Final consisted of just 1 foreign player within both squads and that was Bruce Grobbelaar, everyone else was from either England,Scotland,Wales or Ireland, and that game was memorable for it's passion,i don't look forward to derbies as much as i once did in them days,i miss those derbies terribly Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the game on sunday...

I can see Liverpool going out to prove the game against United was a one off bad day and getting back on track,Everton will be difficult to break down as usual so i can maybe see us winning by the odd goal, but i wouldn't complain if we by more Wink

I'm not looking to turn this into a 'What is the biggest Derby' thread but I just can't see how anyone can argue against the Glasgow derby. It's not all about which has the best standard of football otherwise the Arsenal v Spurs would probably be the biggest. OF Derby's rarely end 0-0 or 1-0 as Crabby said. Anyone care to take a guess at what is the biggest score in a domestic cup final in Europe? I'll give you's a clue, 7-1. Not to mention recent times where we where pumped 3-0, or us winning 5-1, 6-2, etc. The Glasgow derby is the most fierce derby (IMO) in Europe. The teams might not be as good as other derbies but there is alot more than football at stake.

Anyways, regarding this match, I can see it being a cracker. 3-2 to someone with controversary involved somewhere. Liverpool to win 3-2 (just because it's at Anfield)

I thought after Sunday's performance you'd be delighted with a point to be honest.

I wouldn't take 1-1 draw before the game either.

I want a win. We should win. We're the better team, and are at home.
