The Football Association has charged Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano with improper conduct following the Argentina international's reaction towards referee Steve Bennett after being sent off against Manchester United on Sunday.

Mascherano, who is currently serving a one-match suspension for the red card, has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge and the case will be heard by a regulatory commission on Friday 4 April.

The second yellow should have been rescinded but guess what, the F.A has its scapegoat.

Don't worry Mascherano lad there are some of us who still admire your passion.

He deserved everything he got! He was constantly mouthing off to the ref at every descision he made......he was lucky he didn't get sent off earlier. There is passion and there's idiocy. Unfortunately he falls into the idiot category for that game!

[beep!].

Andy Gray (of all people) sums it up perfectly here.

You know you are getting it up the ass when Andy Gray is stickin' up for you and you are Liverpool!

You all lap it up as per usual. Ferguson has played the media and they play you like a fiddle. The F.A has its scapegoat and all is good with the world.

Dance puppets dance.

Fair play Gray lad, you went well up in my estimation.

Redknapp, shut your grid you wanna be Chelsea boy.

His ban has now been extended, now is it me or is this completely ridiculous? Ashley Cole got of with his shocking tackle and behaviour scot free, Jason Roberts was mouthing of at the ref all game in Liverpool v Blackburn, but no. He only got sent off because it was United.

He didn't deserve a 3-match ban, but a 2 one. That said, judging by the fact no-ones been booked since for dissent he didn't even deserve to be sent off... Not if you're going by consistency.
