Newcastle United are set to let Dutchman Patrick Kluivert leave after just one season. The Magpies had the chance to sign the contract for a further 2 years, however after a poor season, they did not take up that offer.

Kluivert has ruled out moving to Turkey and says he will return to Spain. Several clubs are said to be interested including Real Betis, Valencia and Seville.

He has scored goals but is not really up to it - he needed to lose a few pounds before playing at that level!

He has done it at the top level - he just seems to have gone past his best its a shame!

Fine finisher!

he scored just 6 in 15 starts for the club, he isnt and hasnt ever been a great striker in my opinion, he has always been overated.

Maybee a club like Celtic, Villareal, betis...... would be good for him?

It wasnt a real suprise that he has officially been released this morning, along with Jamie McClen and Stephen brennan (anounced on nufc.co.uk)

Don't think the little lardy dumpling added a great deal for Newcastle this season, they'd best start looking out for a couple of strikers pronto now, they won't get by just with Shearer and Ameobi!!

i know, ameobi is a crap player, they really need one or two quality strikers to improve the goalscoring but also a defense is in greater need as they might score 4 but they will let in 5!

NOOOOO Ameobi is quality, ok hes not a Shearer but he is capable of getting goals. With WBA wanting to get rid of Earnie who has prooved he can score goals at every level for Wales, Cardiff and WBA I think he would be ideal to play next to Shearer. And he would only cost 4 mill max.

Ameobi has potential but is inconsitent and can be clumsy. Earnie isn't the right player for Newcastle. AJ, Ashton or someone else.
