Inter midfielder Luis Figo admits that he would like to play for at least another year with the Nerazzurri and if not, he will retire.

The former world player of the year has been troubled with injury for most of the season and it seems as this will be his final as he reveals that he may even retire.

There were rumours that he would be moving to Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad at the end of the season when his current deal expires.

However Figo insists he would like to stay on at the San Siro based club and that when he eventually retires he has a desire to return to Portugal.

“I would like to play on for another year at Inter and if this is not possible then I could retire,” said Figo.

“I dream about returning to Sporting Lisbon but not as a player but in a different role, it’s a club which represents my heart.”

It seems as if the 35-year-old playmaker has no intentions of moving to another club should Inter fail to keep him on at the end of the season.

Inter are currently on course for their third scudetto in row but they have a lot of work to do given the four point advantage over Roma.

Figo is a great player, but unfortunately you could tell recently that he has been slower and poorer than that in the past. Hate to see him go but if he has to then has to.

I won't be sad to see him retire, C. Ronaldo has already succeeded & surpassed him by far. Nonetheless, he was a great player but his legs just can't carry him anymore.

Figo may retire soon
