The only reason the majority of Messi's goals are inside the box is that many of his goals are the resuilt of long mazy runs from well outside the box. Just because Ronaldo does more tricks doesn't mean he's a more skillfull player than Messi, surely theres more technique to an incisive pass rather than a stepover. I'll agree with you that Ronaldo is (marginally) stronger and is better in the air but just because Messi is one footed doesn't mean Ronaldo's better. There have been many great one footed players. Do the names Maradona, Puskas or Rivaldo ring a bell? Then again i suppose Ronaldo is better than all those players combined because thats what Sky Sports tell us.......

Sky Sports does'nt tell me he's the best, 34 goals in 34 games is all the proof we need. This player will be one of if not the best player of all time. He just keeps getting better. He will win everything with Manchester United and Portugal. He's already the captain for his country and he'll be the next United captain. Then again I suppose Messi is better because thats what Maradonna tells us just like he says about evey Argentina player under 4ft. Laughing

Having a great goalscoring record doesn't make you the best in the world. And the fact that you said Ronaldo could goon to become the greatest player of all time is actually funny, you seriously think he could go on to achieve more than Maradona, Pele, Cruijff or Beckanbauer? He wont even be best Ronaldo of all time! And Messi is 5 foot 5 which is clearly taller than 4 foot.

Did you ever see Beckenbauer or Cryuff play? Back then players were'nt as fit and tactically aware as they are today. Ronaldo would kill both of those players Even Maradona is a bit overated. None of these players have the pace and power that Ronaldo has. Ronaldo can strike a ball better then all of them.
The other Ronaldo never won a Champions League and never will. Cristiano will be Fifa World Player, Ballon D'Or and Champions League wiiner in the next few months.

You are such a joke, maybe if you stop masturbating over Ronaldo and actually watch football you will realise that Ronaldo doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as those players. You are so ignorant its actually annoying me. You can't just assume that Ronaldo is fitter than these players because he plays nowadays. And tactical awareness? Ronaldo is not an intelligent footballer, he does not have the same reading of the game that these players had. These guys could pick out a pass before they even got the ball while Ronaldo is too interested in showing off. And don't even get me started on Maradona, just explain to me how he is overrated and how Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Diego Maradona?

And the fact that Ronaldo is a 3 time world player of the year, world cup winner and all time top world cup goal scorer may just make up for the fact that he hasn't won the Champions League

Poacher? hahahahaha Have you seen the amount of goals he makes for himself? From outside the box?

You are really clutching at straws now.

I'm in the Ronaldo camp here - he scores more, is nearly as good technically and is very consistent. Messi is supremely gifted but I don't think he's as influential.

Fair point but I'll always be a Messi man, he's just incredible when he's on form I was so gutted when he got injured that I vowed to wear my Barcelona top until he returned(lasted 2 weeks, it was filthy and smelt so bad)

I do watch football Premier League, La Liga, BundesLiga, UEFA Cup, Champions League etc and I have to say Ronaldo is the best player in the world this year and for many years to come. The people that are jealous of Ronaldo would be the same people masturbating if Messi had 34 goals in 34 but that will never happen.

Well the fact that Ronaldo is almost 3 years older than Messi suggests that Messi has plenty time to surpass his goal-scoring record.

Speaks for itself, dont know how people can argue with it.

None of the players are asked to defend so what else comes into it apart from attacking stats?

FOOOKING HELL!

That's insane. I didn't realise his record was anywhere near that good in the CL. Not bad for someone who can't produce in the big games...

That doesnt include 3 in 3 in the FA Cup and 3 in 7 for Portugal.

Ronaldo is not the best in the world, he is simply the most hyped player in the world, similar to Steven Gerrard. He goes missing in every single big game, he has poor teamwork, more often than not his free kicks balloon over the bar, he is a selfish egotist. People point to his scoring record this season which is undoubtedly excellent, but how many of those goals have came against the other big 3? And judging by all the appearences Messi has made for Barcelona and all the appearnces Ronaldo has made for United Messi has a better goal to game ratio. He also collects more assists, Ronaldo has made just 2 goals in EPL ths season. Messi also thrives in big matches, not only did he score a hat trick against Real Madrid last year but he has also put in man of the match perfromances against Chelsea, Valencia and Sevilla in the past. Also, has Ronaldo ever scored a goal quite as incredible as Messi' against Getafe or as delicately beautiful as Messi's against Mexico, I rest my case.

Messi has 3 more assists. Big thrills!

Ronaldo has 17 more goals.

How is Ronaldo's stats so much more impressive than Messi's?
Kaka's are poor compared with last season but both Ronaldo's and Mess's are impressive with Ronaldo's more impressive but had Messi not got injured in the middle of the season then he would be much closer to Ronaldo in terms of goals because it took him around a month to get back to best and whnever he did he got injured against Celtic.

I'm not taking anything away from Ronaldo's stats, he's a fantastic player who's having a great season but mere statistics don't tell the full story.

I'm sure Zidane's raw statistics were never as impressive as Ronaldo's but I don't theres a doubt who the better player is. I can see why people think Roaldo is better but it just annoys me that people assume he is the best in the world because he plays in the EPL. I'm sticking with Messi though, he is just so much more mesmerising and creative when on the ball.

Shame those stats don't show how many times he loses the ball, or doesn't track back to win the ball back after he has lost it. Or how many freekicks he hits against the wall.

Yes he is fantastic, yes he has had a superb season, but don't kid yourselves, he still has alot to improve on in his game. He needs to play more intelligently - he is predictable, and that is why big teams mark him out of the game. He probably is the best goal poacher in the world this year, but he is not the cream of the crop in my opinion. I would still say that goes to Messi.

You were the one basing your opinion on stats, not me. I just had to post that to show that you are wrong - again.

Ignoring the stats he is still the best in my opinion.

Kaka no longer the 'best player in the world'
