Rooney made the goal - and superb header by Ronaldo.
That was Magic by Rooney though, and Scholes put a superb ball in. Fantastic goal.

Edit: Just watched it again, and it wasn't so magic by Rooney. Not a bad ball, but it looked more impressive live lol. Cracking ball from Scholes though.

this sounds crazy.. but i always thought Man Utd players dressed in red jersey for a while.. T.T

and we lost vidic for twisted knee?.. such a disaster.. he's supposed to be a tough rock.. hope it's just a slight injury.. T.T

anyway.. i'm delighted with the temporary score.. 1-0 from a heading.. guess who did it?.. the best player of this season.. maybe.. lol..

roma outpossessed us in ball controls and passings.. i can hardly remember how many times we managed to break forward.. lol..

and of course.. the ref had been very helpful.. Mad

we really didn't need these 2 injuries at this point in our season. Vidic especially.

Roma were looking like scoring before that Rooney goal. Good work from Park. Rooney didn't even know where the ball was. Great effort from Ronaldo taking on 3 players, shooting low and hitting the post.

Roma look to have given up.

Apart from a dodgy 10 minutes early in the second half this has been as good a performance as any i've seen from United this season. Roma are 2nd in Italy but have been completely shown up today.

T.T = Crying or Very sad

good second half.. the ball seemed to be on our side much better..

van der sar should've been the motm for those brilliant saves.. and credits to all defenders who'd been defending amazingly..

panucci got a very nice chance to score one.. but he didn't quite make it.. too bad..

everyone'd been awesome.. hope we keep our cool performance till final.. <33

Commentators were dire. Got the players names wrong on so many occasions.

Sir Alex you keep that scottish flag flying high. Smile

Great job by United but how poor are Roma?

They had nothing when it came to an attacking threat. Kept the ball well at times but that was it.

No chance in hell that United aren't in the semis now.

I wouldn't go as far as the commentators and call it the archetypal away performance for teams in Europe but it was certainly a very good display, no question. There were a few too many scary moments in front of our goal where, if we were playing against more incisive opponents a la Barcelona then we may have been punished. That's all "ifs and buts" though because the team have achieved 2 away goals and a clean sheet which I really can't praise enough. They have surely now put one foot into the next round now and go into next weeks tie with a very diminished sense of pressure, well as much as you can do in a CL Quarter-Final.

Rio Ferdinand
... What a bloody player he is, I'd go as far as saying that without him tonight we may have been beaten, he was just that good. Every single thing which came into the box had his name on it, he just controlled the area perfectly and if you look at the fact that his regular partner and a valuable member of the team was taken off it really increases the stature of that performance. For me he's the best defender in the world as he's performed consistently at that level for 2 years now stamping out any doubts about his ability in the process. I'd like to hear tdv's comments on him these days, if he still doesn't rate him then I think that he's just being stubborn.

The rest of the team were very solid, I can't remember many substancial slip ups or mistakes at all so in that respect I can't really say anyone didn't perform. Tonight was a night for workrate and solidity and from what I seen every single player gets top marks there. I thought Scholesy was absolutely immense throughout, the extent of his ability in close quarters cannot be bettered in my opinion, I've never seen a player better at that type of football. He can have a ball come to him in a ruck off players and because he has such an array of manoevures and touches, he can navigate his way out or simply just effortlessly move the ball out to a teammate seemingly in any direction. He's still world class in my book without a shadow of doubt.

That first goal by Ronaldo was so emphatic, I nearly snapped my ankle jumping up as I really didn't expect it, he just came from nowhere and powered it in. It came in such a vital time in the game because I feel that if it had continued much longer at 0-0 and Roma made it to half time then they would have had the incentive to push us hard. I don't think it was an overly great performance by the Portuguese winger like the puppets on summary will tell you but he showed up and made his presence pay and that's what counts. Then you have the Rooney goal which may have been a bit fortunate but they all count and he had run himself into the ground all game for the cause so it was deserved I feel, he worked the space for the first and held the ball up well various times so it was a satisfactory night from him.

I'm happy, I just hope that Vidic is okay... I don't think he'll be back next week, if he is then he's an absolute machine because that knee jarring looked like it will be a few weeks until he's back playing.

MOTM: Rio.

Well as much as i don't like to say it, ManU played well and were solid. They'll now go to the Semi's without any problem and most probably meet Barcelona. I think ManU'll make it to the finals this season.

What I really don't get it is how come Roma haven't scored even a single goal. Panucci got a superb chance to equalise early in the 2nd half and Vucinic's finish could've been a lot better in the chance during the first half. Other than those and a few other half-chances, ManU defended well. THe loss of Vidic might be a bit worrying, not a lot I think.

Good game and well played ManU(From an Arsenal fan). Smile

Was absolutely petrified of this game and I'm still wary though confident going to OT. Revenge is a strong strong thing but Roma, still looked scarred from last year. The absence of Totti was also a key factor. Great win for United and nice goal from Ronaldo (The worst player in the world till he gets 10000 goals and 500000 assists in a season, hahaha).

However, i do feel Man U will need to score first at OT just to take 100% control of the tie. Complacency and thoughts of the Nou Camp can must be put back till it's over.
