Emre needs to leave soon iin my opinion as he is letting himself down as a player unless its the team around him that made him a wanted man at Inter Milan

He has struggled with injury though.
And there's the curse of Tyneside as well. So many good players have gone there and ended up half the player they once were. Duff, Owen, Emre, Rozenhal, Viduka, Cacapa, Luque, Boumsong, Enrique, Hugo Viana etc. |

Newcastle need a decent midfield players...Geremi is horrendous...he can't even take corners properly. I really don't know why N'Zogbia isn't in the starting line most of the time.
Anyway, I don't know who they'll sign...but that's what needs attention following defense. |

Did you miss Geremi's goal against Spurs?
Freekick delivery was alright, corners were up to scratch too. But yes generally he is below average... |

i'd welcome dawson definately, not too sure on jenas though. he seems a little inconsistent. he'll have a good game about 1 in 3/4. not saying all our midfielders have great games all the time, but if we're going to sign players then they should be consistently good ones.

Hey all, first post and I'm from Hull, (don't laugh, we might be playing you next year!) but what's going to happen at Newcastle has been interesting me more than most other stuff since Kev got back, so I'll give my 2 cents :
Kev's well known for his attacking style, and yeah they could get far by attacking the hell out of teams, but if Newcastle are really going to be pushing for the big trophies from next season, I don't think that's going to cut it at all. The standard is just too high all over the pitch when you get to the best clubs nowadays, so he should probably try his best to strengthen the whole side. First I'd love to see Owen stay. Yeah he had a confidence thing under Keegan before, and he's not done too well, but niether have the whole side. If Kev makes that side better, Owen will get a lot more chances on goal, and there's a chance he could run into the best form he's ever had, so yeah, I really hope he stays up in Newcastle, and that could be a big factor in how well the Magpies do next season. Also : with what they did to Tottenham the other day : that side, and the situation with club as a whole, doesn't look anywhere near as bad as it did, as far as I see it. As for who to bring in : no clue, but as a first guess I'm thinking he'll go overseas a bit as well as buying from the UK, and bring in one or more from there. I just hope he doesn't buy too many older players. He should really be setting the side up for years to come with younger and middle aged (in football terms of course.) ones aswell. Where to strengthen? Not totally sure here, but I'd suggest : A world class midfielder. Someone who can really hold the side together, and that can defend and attack if needed. Someone who can help them dominate in the middle of the pitch, where so much of the game is going to be fought out. Then a really good central defender to help shore up that defence. Like I said, I don't think just attacking will cut it when they come up against the best teams. After that I'd say a good winger, and I'm guessing that will probably happen, then another good striker. Maybe a really expensive and world class one, but I don't think he should spend too much and leave himself short for other areas of the pitch. If he does all that, then brings in two or three up and coming players, maybe not very well known but who are quality, and can help give the squad some depth and promise for the future a bit more, I think they could end up shocking a lot of people next season. Will all that happen? Probably not, but hopefully something of that nature will, and next season Newcastle can start ripping up some of the best teams in the Premiership, because I'd love to see them back at the top again. |
