You had to write Ronalninho, Rolinho, Herry and Romney to complete your mistakes Laughing

We're not talking about what could be. Ronaldo IS currently the best player in the world.

Pease tell me who has been BETTER than him over these 2 seasons. Not as good as, or 'not far off'. Not based on team performances either. Who has been the better individual? Nobody!

If you were to ask me who was the most inform player out of the 3, then I would say Ronaldo - it is plain to see, however I still don't think he is a better player than Kaka or Messi. If all 3 were on top of their game, I personally believe that Kaka and Messi are more of a threat.

So that is the reason I don't think Ronaldo is the best player in the world.

I was thinking bout this too the other day. If your talking about who has been playing the best over the past two years, you'd have to say Ronaldo. If you look at it like, who is the best, ability wise, I'd still say Ronaldinho. There isn't a player on the planet than can do the things he has over the past few seasons. He's had a bad dip in form, but I still beleive he is the best footballer on the planet

In reply to O Dogg,

so what you're saying is, Ronaldo is currently the best player in the world, but you favor Messi and Kaka as players?

so basically you agree with my quote?

i kinda agree with your there.. but not entirely. I think Ronaldo, Kaka and Messi can all do things that other players cant. For instance, no-one takes a free kick like Ronaldo. Kaka, Messi and Ronaldiho all take the sme kind of free kick... similar to David Beckham or Juninho of Lyon... or even Nakamura of Celtic. Hense it's name.. The Ronaldo Rocket Smile

All these players have something... that's what makes them so special.

What makes you think Kaka or Messi are even capable of the level of form Ronaldo is at right now? Neither has ever come close imo.

The 'Ronaldo Rocket' looks amazing but is not that succesful. He has four goals from free kicks this season in over 20 attempts. He has way more efforts with his free kicks than alot of players. I would expect more goals from how many attempts he has had with his 'rocket'.

I think some people are splitting hairs here. You cant judge a player on individual performances (the Villa game for instance). Kaka and Messi have poor, substandard games every now and then... or games where they played really well but weren't necessarily the best player on the pitch.

The only difference this year is that Ronaldo is having a better season than Kaka and Messi and that's why (at the moment) he IS the best player in the world.

i stand by my point.

on form and effectiveness, Ronaldo IS the best player in the world right now... without question.

Not neccessarily, Zidane was never very consistent, he turned the style on a lot but he did not score every game like Ronaldo yet he is still considered to be the better player.

Messi has a brilliant scoring record for someone of his age that doesn't play up front. Ronaldo also does not play up front, people call him a winger but his position is deceptively similar to Messi's as he constantly cuts inside into the centre. He is probably the most freely scoring winger that I have ever seen yet this does not make him a better player than his counterparts. Often he will score a goal and do very little else in a match apart from a few stepovers or a good dribble. He is a better goalscorer than Messi, no question about it but Messi aged 20 is a much better goalscorer than Ronaldo aged 20. I know your going to say we are talking about Ronaldo nowadays but I am making a point that there is a good chance Messi will equal Ronaldo's scoring record sometiem inside the next year or two. Yes, in terms of sheer form Ronaldo is the best in the world, he easily surpasses Kaka this year, but Messi in the opening months of La Liga had a similar scoring record to Ronaldo and had much better all round performances as he contributed much more to the team in terms of work rate, assists and abiliy to find team mates with passes. Messi got injured for couple of months and when he returned his form dropped as it took him a while to regain fitness. Whenever he got back on top of his game he began scoring freely and contributing almost ev erything to Barca's performances. You just have to look at their form since he got injured to see how pivotal he is. I believe that with continuos games, like Ronaldo has had the whole season, Messi is a better player. That is why while I believe Ronaldo is the worlds most in form player, Messi is the worlds best player in terms of quality when he is on the field.

Could you see Messi smash in a 30 yard free-kick? No. What about a towering powerful header? No What about using his other leg? No Why can't he entertain with a few tricks and flicks? Cause he can't. Ronaldo plays in a mans league and Messi is always getting injured in the boys league. Ronaldo is best.

I somehow don't think so. Ronaldo is on course to score at least 40 goals in one season. I can't see Messi going past 30 in a season.

A couple of years ago if you had of said that Ronaldo would be hitting 40 goals a season I bet you would have laughed.

Messi is only 20 and doesn't hit free kicks for Barca or Argentina because of Ronaldinho and Riquelme. Ronaldo would never get hitting free kicks ahead of those two. For all we know Messi could be a good free kick taker but he doesn't get a chance to hit them, Ronaldo didnt hit free kicks at Man United when he was 20. And because Barcelona's style I dont think Messi will ever even need to attempt a header as the ball is constantly on the ground. And your honestly teeling me you don't think Messi could do a backheel or a stepover? Most of Ronaldo's tricks are quite easy, I can even do them and im not joking. I find a 30 yard dribble more entertainig than a stepover. Beating multiple defenders in tight areas is an incredibly hard thing to master but Messi does it with such ease. And if the Spanish League is such a boys league then why is Ronaldo constantly quoting that he feels it is the best league in the world and he wants to play there some day?

I think it's safe to say Messi totally outshone Ronaldo last night....another big game another failure.

Well if Ronaldo was playing for Barca last night he would of breaking down the United defence something that Messi and Barca could'nt do. They are celebrating as if they'd won when they only got a 0-0 draw at home against a United side that had its worst game of the season. Manchester United will hammer them at Old Trafford.

Kaka no longer the 'best player in the world'
