PSV Eindhoven coach Sef Vergoossen has warned UEFA Cup opponents Fiorentina they will not face a club distracted by domestic issues when the two teams meet in the quarter-finals.

PSV take on the Italians in the opening leg of their European clash at Florence's Artemio Franchi stadium on Thursday, just three days before a crucial Eredivisie fixture against Heracles Almelo.

The Eindhoven outfit lead the domestic league by five points and could claim the title this weekend if they win and nearest rivals Ajax are beaten by De Graafschap.

But Vergoossen has pushed all title thoughts to one side and is instead focused solely on beating Fiorentina on Thursday.

"This squad is very capable of concentrating on the next match," the coach said.

"We will certainly not spare any player because of the Eredivisie. Then you are in two minds.

"I always warn the players about that. It's deadly. The focus for now is fully 100% on the UEFA Cup."

PSV will need to be at their best with Fiorentina flying high in Serie A.

The Viola sit fourth in the table and within reach of a Champions League place for next season, but were trounced 3-0 by Udinese at the weekend - a match watched by PSV's assistant coach Dwight Lodeweges.

Despite that defeat, Lodeweges is aware things will not be easy for his players.

"If you look further than the end result, you see a very good team," said the assistant coach.

"They want to play offensively, play dominant football. Up front we didn't know that much about them, but now I say: Fiorentina are a top Italian club."

Vergoossen is also in awe of their opponents, adding: "In their home match against Everton, they struggled to play through Everton's defence... but then scored two goals anyway.

"Really, I was impressed by Tottenham, but this team is even better."

PSV have taken 19 players to Florence. Midfielder Ismail Aissati has stayed behind to receive treatment on an ankle injury

while Brazilian defender Alcides is not yet match fit.
