No question Fernando Torres

Having said that Gerrard has a role in the success of Torres. He seems to have an understanding with Fernando

As the Premier League nears it's end, who would you look back on and class as your single best player?

Best as in biggest contribution to the team ethic?
Best as in most consistent performer?
Best as in most improved player (i.e. one who you got far more out of than you would have thought)?
Best as in best player generally (based on ability, not neccessarily performances)?

Just your personal view of what or who's best, you snob! Laughing

If I wanted to be more specific then I would have asked a more detailed question. Nobody else had trouble understanding, except Monty who is a tool. Laughing

I see you came up with Keane anyway which is what the other Spurs fans were saying.

Javier Mascherano for Liverpool in my opinion. He's been outstanding, having more Man of the Match performances then anyone in our side i think. He's constantly prominent in the huge games and frankly is integral to our success - when he's not playing we really do miss the palisade-like wall he offers our defence. He's even improving on his offensive attributes too, particularly passing, and also with scoring his first goal.

A close second is Fernando Torres. Scoring what could well be over 30 goals in his first season, doubling his final seasons' tally achieved in an Atletico shirt. He's a match-winner to rival Gerrard and gives us a huge outlet that we've seldom had in the past - not only lightning pace but something who's strong, loves to dribble himself and can shoot from anywhere. Nobody expected what he's produced, with quite a few suggesting 15 goals would be pleasing for his first season... He needs to improve in away games though.

Gerrard has been superb at times but slightly too hit-and-miss to rival the other pair. Moving into a purely attacking midfield position in February, with Alonso and Mascherano behind him, is really conjuring the very best from our skipper, and he's had some excellent performances.

Had Skrtel been signed in the summer, and replicated the start he's had over the course of this season, he'd be in contention also - as it is, it would be a little unfair to include him because of the sheer lack of games he's featured in by only joining in January.

exactly what i would have written

Just making the point that "best" can be interpreted in different ways, that's all!

Keegan may have played a big part, but he isn't a "player", which is what the threads about. If you had to vote for Newcastle's "Player of the Year", who would you vote for?

No one, because not one of them has been consistently good. None of them deserve an individual award. Football is about teamwork in my opinion and not about one individual. That is why I voted Keegan because he has got all those individuals to work as a team.

He was a player.

If I had to absolute say a player. It would be Obafemi Martins. The man has really shone under Keegan.

It would be very hard to choose between Clichy and Hleb imo.I don't think there are many other players who
have been more consistently effective in the big games. In terms of all around class and professionalism no one is better than Clichy, the kid looks like he doesn't have a bad word for anyone and treats every player with respect. In fact it's one side of him i admire but don't like myself. How he can perform at that level being so genuinely nice is astonishing.
Hleb is the most effective Dribbler in the league imo and no team has stopped him from doping exactly what he does game in and game out. He still gets no respect in general, but in the Man U game the other day i think i heard the commentator , and former player ,say he doesn't think there is a better dribbler in the game today which was refreshing to hear.I think the lack of goals holds him back in many eyes ,but not mine.I don't believe every player on the park needs to score goals and i tend to look at teams as machines that have a lot of parts that look unimportant ,but without would not operate.

For the first time, I find your post to be completely right. I can't choose between Hleb and Flamini(Most improved player of our side IMO) for us this season.

Ronaldo or Torres.

One scores for fun from the wing and the other scores for fun in his 1st season.

It's not a coincidence mate, i'm that good!

On a more serious note ,i think a lot of Arsenal fans deserve a lot of questioning really. If you look at how many , so called Gunner fans , pick Hleb when choosing their best 11 or man of the match etc.

Flamini has been impeccable this season and for all the attention Cesc get's ,this season Flamini was captain material in my eyes.
