Being fair to Voronin, he hasn't played in a long time (bar the 5 minute cameo on Wednesday) with injury. He looked quite rusty indeed.
I think you're talking out of your arse! In 2001 we won the quintuple. |

We still had a chance in the title race. A glimmer of hope. So he rests 5 players and we drop points to a much weakened Liverpool side?
It's really disappointing. Arsenal have been disappointing overall in the past month or two. There can be no excuses, we threw it all away and I can see a similar performance coming on Tuesday in where they'll knock us out and leave us trophyless again. |

arsene out.
the dignified professor once again moans and bitches to deflect away from his own failings. im sure he was just concentrating on the Champions League from the start this 'transitional period' is starting to drag on a bit. the excuses are wearing thin for Mr Wenger. bloody referees eh? |

I personally do not see him making it in a Liverpool shirt. I know he is best suited to a more advanced role. I believe he was purchased with the underastanding he will one day replace our captain, however, i do not see any him possesing any qualities that make me believe he will ever be good enough. I do not see any stand out qualities in his game. Todays midfielder must have qualities in attacking and defending. If he is outstanding at one you can look past him not being up to scratch at the other. He lacks pace, i do not think he is that good at tackling, and i have not been that impressed with his passing. It is his first season in a new league in a new country and he is still young. Hopefully he will improve, but currently, i do not think he is good enough. On a seperate issue, i wish people would stop harping on about Arsenal's penalty shout. It was never in a million years a penalty! Clutching at straws to hide the fact you played awfully and Liverpool, with a far from strong team, played very well. |

Why was Wenger even allowed a "transitional period"? Surely once you get a side to a certain height, as he did, it's your responsibility as a manager to maintain that, by repeatedly blooding players in as the team that is so successful continues being such, so that they can gradually be replaced. Instead Wenger decided to dismantle his side in a matter of years and create a new one from scratch - that ain't the way you do it. Sure, you might have a dip between two great sides, but nearly being fifth and going trophyless for 3 seasons isn't really acceptable. It shows the leniency that he now has with the job though. It's far too cushy and i've heard plenty of Gunner's dissatisfied with him and their lack of trophies. |

At the moment he obviously isn't good enough, but i personally have seen enough to suggest he's got talent. As i said, for me it's a case of environment, and had he gone to Italy (with Inter Milan reportedly interested before we signed him) he would have thrived. It's different here and he doesn't get the time that he wants, which he has to adapt to. If he can i fully believe he'll replace Gerrard - but only time will tell. |

transitional period is just a load of PR b*llocks meaning not quite good enough yet. i agree with you. wenger is unsackable, rightly or wrongly. |

Because in the same trophyless seasons he has made the Club more successful than it's ever been in other ways. The financial growth and the quality of the Club overall has been boosted massively in the past few years just because of Wenger. If he did spend £20m on each player and battle other super European spending Clubs for big names then we probably wouldn't have this fantastic stadium or this super healthy financial position. Building takes time, especially when you aren't spending on football matters like the other Clubs around you. We don't spend £25m on our Striker unlike Liverpool - most of our First XI costs less than that. Still we are able to compete at the highest levels and this season is not over yet. It's a big step up and if this team continues to grow then it'll be competing for many, many years. The best player is Cesc and he's 20, so you can work out how long he could stay at the Club until he peaks - and if he leaves we've got more young talent in the squad and due to arrive and more due to blossom - like Vela, Merida etc. I'm more than satisfied with Wenger's work at Arsenal. From the rebuilding of the squad to the building of the new stadium to the superb health of the Club to the style of the football. I'm happy with the outlook of our future and the potential of this current squad. Football fans are fickle mostly though, so you're bound to get fools who doubt the guy's work and/or ability as a Manager here. |

Do you think theres a case for Wenger to be put in charge of all football operations at Arsenal but getting someone else to coach the first team? Wengers strengths seem to be in ensuring the footballing aspects at Arsenal are healthy and consistent right thru the different teams both in playing and financial terms but is he too hung up on this to make the right decisions for the first team playing staff? |

Wenger is more than capable of doing everything he does at the Club with equal interest and dedication.

Even though we could see another trophyless season for Arsenal, there is no way he deserves to get sacked, or even spoke about in such terms.
OK, his team have suffered from squeaky bum time but not many people would have tipped Arsenal to have sustained a title challenge for this long. Also, they've done pretty well in the Champions' League by knocking out the holders AC Milan. All this after SELLING arguably their best ever player Thierry Henry. So all things considered, Wenger's done pretty well to get them this far. The trouble is some glory hunting fans will be frustrated wondering where the next Cup is coming from, instead of appreciating how much success the Frenchman has brought to the club. Isn't he their most successful manager ever? Even Herbert Chapman hadn't won what he has. |

Exactly my sentiments! The analysis is pootrand and don't know how Gavin Peacock got a job with the BBC. He sat on the fence later on in the programme about that Bentley penalty claim, he isnt paid to sit on the fence! To many so called experts sit on the fence and are afraid to upset people by saying what they really think. |
