Re: Look who it is? |

Just let me say this slowly so it gets through your deluded head. YOU ... SUPPORT.... Newcastle. I wore an Everton Hafnia top as a kid but I always supported Liverpool. My brother bought me the top and I idolised my brother so I wore it. I supported both teams as a kid but my brother left for the forces and I ended up becoming more and more of a red by my Gran's influence. Ste Gerrard is hardly the only kid to ever wear the kit of a team he didn't support. Oh and by the way the reason he actually did is because his uncle won a competition and the kit and decided to take Steven along much to the anger of his father. He was a boyhood red as anyone in his family will tell you and he himself will tell you, for whatever it matters like. He is now the captain of Liverpool FOOTBALL CLUB and turned down a much better chance at the title (in the end) to stay at his boyhood club. Where is Rooney thesedays? |

Quoted from Gerrard's book "...Many people thought it was a fake. It isn't. It's a genuine photograph, taken in 1987. That is me, dressed as an Evertonian, and it wasn't at a fancy-dress party or for a bet. Leslie took me to Goodison when I was six and I saw some of Everton's games on the way to their league championship. I won a programme competition to have my picture taken with the league trophy and Charity Shield at Goodison. Uncle Leslie was buzzing. He know it would send Dad through the roof, and it really did. Dad went ballistic at the thought of his son, all in blue, standing proudly in the Goodison trophy room.........But I did. I was so keen. I was seven by the time, mad about football, not that clued-up in those days about the intense rivalry between Everton and Liverpool.............I look back on the incident and wonder what the hell I was doing. Put it down to the naivety of youth. We all make mistakes. Everton, Liverpool or whoever - at the tim, just the chance to own a new football kit thrilled me...." end of story. |

Are you kidding me. I would never wear a Sunderland top when I was a kid, even if I was given one for free by my brother. I would say to my brother "are you fu**ing kidding me. I'd never wear that crap.". It would be like a big insult as my brother knows exactly who I support and would buy me a Newcastle top. |

But the point is he's denying it... And also the other point is it's the only time he'll get his mits on a trophy like that... And he happens to be doing it with an Everton top on...
|

how is he denying it?
have you not read his autobiography extract posted on here? he clearly explains things and offers no regret at all, just approaches it with humour. its no big deal. |

Don't make it a big deal then...

No, I just dont see the need for a thread making a point that Steve wore an efc top when he was a child just because he's the captain of Liverpool. If things are that bad here it's a good job there's no picture of you riding a "chopper" bike near anfield when you were a kid. Imagine the uproar! An Evertonian by anfield? Oh my |
