hasnt it occured to him that after the injury excuses last season a bigger squad would have been crucial? surely its not so unexpected for the prone Van Persie to be injured along with two other players...?

They're not excuses Steely, they're facts. Arsenal are the only team to get injuries and have an average squad age of 13.

We've been without Agger since September but we bought Skrtel because we were short. You can understand with their attack, as two of four striker's injured would be unexpected and crippling, but if they were so vulnerable on the wing (which they are) they should have done the same as us.

What is he on about by "young players" anyway? The marvel that is Francesc Fabregas? Then who? Clichy? Okay. Aside from them none of their main players are especially young or inexperienced... It's annoying how Arsenal always get portrayed as being unusually young or inexperienced.

The Danish forward was quick to admonish Martin Taylor for any intent as he played alongside the Blues' defender on loan at St Andrews' last term, but insisted it was a red card.

"We were thinking about everything in the dressing room afterward. There were a lot of disappointments. We had a draw when we have to win and of course what happened to Edu is worse. It's just not the best of days."

Defending Taylor, the Arsenal striker claimed that he did not think that the centre-back would have made the high tackle deliberately.

"He's not a player like that," Bendtner continued. "He's really calm. He's not one who goes in to hurt people, never. But in football things like this happen.

"But, even though he is not one who does bad tackles, it was a bad tackle and he deserved to be sent off," he concluded. "The referee had no choice."


I've gotta say, Bendtner might have been a bit hurt by Eduardo's injury. But, I bet deep inside, he was happy as a little kid on Christmas morning knowing he's going to get more playing time.

I see nothing wrong at all there with what he said. And every footballer would be pleased with more playing time, whatever the circumstances.

There is nothing whatsoever wrong with what Bendtner said. He should be applauded when people like Fabregas are leading the line to get Taylor hung - a little bit of common sense is refreshing.

Fabregas said nothing about Taylor till he was specifically asked a question about it a month later in an interview. And then the media took it out of context and took out the other questions that were asked, and made it look like it was a statement by Fabregas. The actual interview was posted somewhere in this forum. It wasn't Fabregas that brought it up, it was the interviewer, and Fabregas just answered, like any interviewee would.
