Does anyone know that if Cardiff win does the team that finishes 6th in the EPL have the last UEFA Cup spot? Cause i thought i read somewhere that if Cardiff win the FA Cup they cant go into Europe representing English cause there Welsh...

Yes - that's what is being said, but I bet there'll be a big fuss if they lose that UEFA spot seeing as how they have been excluded from any entry from any Welsh tournament for about 12 years - which is why we get teams like Barry and Rhyl in Europe. Cardiff, like Swansea and Wrexham in the English league, and some smaller teams, have opted to compete in the English league, so should be allowed entry. Fireworks may yet come |

There's a lot of bother with Welsh / English leagues - it's even affecting England women getting a place in the Olympics - but that is going OT.
I wish Caerdydd all the best in the final - even if they did beat Arsenal last time |

Going for Cardiff. Uefa have said that they may grant Cardiff will a 'Wildcard' entry into the Uefa Cup if they win and that everyone at Uefa sympathise with their situation. No decision will be made until after the final though

I'm Welsh, but the first cup final Arsenal were in, they lost to Cardiff.
The story is that Welshman Dan Lewis, in Arsenal's goal, deliberately let the ball slip out of his grip into the net; he blamed the fact that the surface of his woollen jersey was slippy as it was new, and Arsenal goalkeepers never wore new jerseys after that (not sure that applies now with new materials). But a lot of people blamed him (probably unfairly) for helping the Cup go to a team from his country. That was before my time, but the first big game I ever saw was Arsenal v Pompey in 1955. They had both won the first division in the previous few years, and Pompey won the game then 3-1. I had a soft spot for Pompey, as they played in my first big game, and that was enhanced a few years back by the enthusiasm of their crowd for their opponents when Arsenal won there 5-1 in the Cup a few years ago. Not many fans would give a standing ovation to players of the opposition when they went off to be substituted (Henry, Vieira and Ljungberg). Pompey fans that day were probably the best I ever saw (only on tv I'm afraid Personally, I'd love it if either of the teams lifted the trophy - it's just such a shame that only one can do it this time. I think I must go for Cardiff this time, as I think Pompey might get there again soon, and I'd love to see a Welsh team win. I just hope they play "Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau" before the kick off. I had to suffer that dirge about the queen last time I went to the Millennium Stadium in Caerdydd, but "Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau" wasn't played |
