Dundee United v Rangers |
|
Rangers inched closer to the Scottish Premier League title after playing out an extraordinary 3-3 draw with Dundee United.
Having slipped to a surprise defeat at home to Motherwell on Saturday, Celtic were looking for Dundee United to do them a massive favour at Tannadice. Dundee United were aiming to gain revenge for their loss to Rangers in the final of the CIS Insurance Cup last month, while victory would also boost their European hopes. Craig Levein's side started well but Lee McCulloch almost scored against the run of play for Rangers when he hooked a shot just over. Christian Kalvenes then bundled the ball home for Dundee United in the 37th minute after his initial effort had hit the post. David Weir headed home Barry Ferguson's free-kick to bring Rangers level a minute before half-time, but Noel Hunt nodded in Sean Dillon's excellent cross on 51 minutes to restore Dundee United's lead. United never looked interested in defending, however, and Nacho Novo rounded Lukasz Zaluska to make the score 2-2 in the 59th minute. Carlos Cuellar turned another Dillon cross into his own net to put United ahead again in the 65th minute, but there was more drama still to come. Rangers equalised for a third time just two minutes later when Kris Boyd, the hero of the final at Hampden, finished from Ferguson's pass. Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages but chances came and went and they eventually had to settle for a point apiece. The result was enough to push Rangers seven points clear of Celtic, with one game still in hand on their rivals. Great game to watch. |

I watched it on Setanta and it was certainly fast and furious, there were mistakes aplenty and some of the defending was very poor indeed but for the neutral it was hugely entertaining.

Feel sorry for United having taken the lead three times. Deserved all 3 points but thats what champions are made of

The lad Gomez playing for United looks very good on the ball to me, comfortable in possession with a lot of pace.

Its Gomis btw
And yeah he is a great wee player, just hope we can hang onto him during the summer , i hope the old firm dont try their usual buying any player who looks half decent only to put them in the reserves a few months down the line. But i was at the game and we so deserve to win it! Rangers didnt even try to play football, they just chuck it up front 60yards and hope it falls to someone in blue, and their goals were all lucky/dubious. I was gutted at the end |

Thats the story of Rangers season. Anti-football as Messi calls it. I like young Willo Flood. Could see him being offski come the summer. Any realtion George? You have family from Ireland too I beleive and Flood isn't exactly the most popular name going
Where you been hiding anyways shaggy? |

I like Flood aswell, hes only made two mistakes all season, that backpass against rangers and a dive he got sent off for in his 2nd game for us, cant see us keeping him, he said he would like to stay but the fee Cardiff are asking is too much for the club. The thing is it was rported to be in the region of £200,000, which isnt that much considering the money we got for Barry Robson and our league cup run, but we will have to wait and see what happens im afraid.
Ive just been really busy, been away for a week, and doing a shitload of chemistry work, bloody uni and their requirements!! And if im honest i saw the password thing and couldnt be bothered changing it, my bad |

Wasn't it Kerr that made the backpass against Rangers? |

Oh god no, ive nearly erased that from my mind, i spent good money to see us get cheated out fot he cup, bloody disgraceful!

Would be a pity if you's end up with nothing this season. Cup final defeat and going strong in the league but to eventually finish 5th behind Motherwell & Hibs

Very true. But he will never see true greats at his club. Once had claudio cannggia once upon a time |

We've had greats, not recently but the likes of Sturrock, Bannon, oluffsson....etc were world class players who were wanted by europes elite in the 80's, back when players had loyalty.
But i agree, Caniggia was an amzing player for Dundee, i still dont know how they managed to pull it off!!!! What about Nemzadse though, he was brilliant too, although i hate to say it! |

You said them players yet none of them were world cup winners
|

They dont need to be to be classed as great though
