Former AS Monaco coach Didier Deschamps is being linked with Real Madrid.

The Frenchman has been out of work since leaving Monaco earlier this season and is one of the rare high-profile candidates on Real Madrid's shortlist that is willing to take charge of the club in midseason.

It's understood Zinedine Zidane has recommended Deschamps to Real president Florentino Perez, who knows the Frenchman speaks Spanish thanks to his days with Valencia.

Spanish sources say Real Madrid won't make a decision until after this week's game against Racing Santander.

If Madrid sack Lopez Caro, I think the coach till the end of the season will be Deschamps. But I think is difficult that Lopez Caro doesn't continue being the coach.

Yes i think if Dechamps were to come he would want to start a fresh season and wait until the summer time.

I think Didier Deschamps would be an interesting pick, would it influenece ZZ to remain and also draw other top french players on the market to the club?

well the thing is ..then what....madrid give no one a chance ...it would only ruin my reputation as a coach to go to madrid ...they dont let a coach build a team and see what happens ...i mena what do they expect from the next coach this year ?...win the title?...why not just let luxumbourgo finish the season ...sign a couple of players in the winter ..and see where they end up ...we all remember barca 2 years ago when they came back to finish second...i said it before and i'l say it again ...its not a manager problem...its a managament problem

Deschamps needs a job though so it's certainly more likely than a lot of the names that have been mentioned. I'm not sure managers who are part of the furniture at their current clubs would be too interested in jumping onto the merry-go-round.
