You have a point GOBati but i think we will have to agree to disagree on the penalty. The ref was behind Mancini and Brown came in from the side, the ref would not be able to see Brown making contact with Mancinis boot, only the ball being deflected sideways. The collision of feet afterwards was between two players after the ball had gone, and maybe THAT is why the ref gave the penalty, but it was very harsh if that was the reason. The panel of experts on TV on Sky say it wasn't a pen Wink

I usually don't hear what people say, I have eyes to see on my own. Journalists usually tend to plump for the the team of their country, here they said it was a clear penalty Laughing

If you watch the replay it's not that difficult to see what I've said

It's the controversial decisions that make for the best debate......I will agree that it was a 50:50 decision, some refs would have given a pen, some would not. Roma got the decision this time Wink

The Sky panel is biased, or blind. I don't know how much contact Brown made with the Roma player, but it was definitely the attacker who Mancini who touched it sideways with his boot.

Wow,how good is Juan he was the best player on the pitch today a fantastic one man defense.Pity he plays for a team with no offense.Roma looked very good in the build up to attack and almost looked like Arsenal at their best.

i'm so so happy with the result.. well.. it's just a goal indeed.. but then we had a number of attempts on goals.. that what matters.. they just need to improve the final touch.. lol..

and the starting team line-up.. omigod.. i was surprised to see silvestre back on the pitch.. and thanks to fergie for putting brown back to his position.. pique isn't yet superb as vidic.. but he seemed to partner rio decent enough.. aarrgghh.. i hope nobody suffers from long injuries anymore.. nani.. vidic.. get well soon..

jisung's been great in ronaldo's position.. guess it'd be advantage if we need some player rotation in the future.. and also a good come-back for neville.. it's weird to see ronaldo on the bench anyway.. haha..

oh.. the tackle by brown.. i'm pretty certain he had the ball.. so it's not a bloody pk.. very annoying.. glad to see it didn't end up as a goal..

well done to all the lads for the hard work.. looking forward to playing against barca soon.. XD

ps it's kind of heart-breaking to notice rio play.. he's probably not in his best condition.. T.T

Agreed. Brown didn't touch the ball at all. Mancini flicked the ball and brown made contact with Mancini's foot. It showed you from where the ref was standing too though and from that angle it looked as if Brown made good contact with the ball so don't know how the ref could give

Agreed, that was the opinion of TV pundits (Peter Beagrie) on 'Your On Sky Sports' after the game had finished. They believed the ref could only get the decision right IF he had the view of the camera from the back of the goal line. They say the ref was lucky, and it WAS a borderline penalty decision, although both Brown and SAF maintain that Brown made contact with the ball.

make that three including me.. i was sober when i witnessed it on the screen.. Laughing

brown did clear the ball well.. it's mancini's trying to twist his legs somewhere around brown's boots.. Mad

That was my first ever bet in a bookie shop, but for me it was a no brainer. Man Utd are better than Roma, were playing the second leg at home, were in excellent form, whilst Roma had their star player missing...United held all the aces. I couldn't lose!

Anyway, this game was pretty dead but I think it was a penalty - it appears that Brown got Mancini's boot which then kicked the ball. Hargreaves was amazing - crosses were Beckham-esque.

Well done mate. Bet you were sweating a lil bit when you saw the United team SAF sent out, and in particular, when the debatable pen was awarded.

Yeah I was going ape sh!t when the ref pointed to the spot - it was like he knew I put some money on the game so he did his best to fcuk it up for me! Evil or Very Mad

Even if they did score, I'd have still had confidence of Utd going through; Fergie would have just put on Rooney and Ronaldo and closed the game out.
