LOL. I think I could name about 50 better players who have been active sometime during the past 15 years. So i'd say he's pretty far of the mark.

The current standard of footballers must be pretty awful if that's the case tdv, when remembering he's the supposed best player in the world.

Nowhere near it.
when he performs consistently against top teams he could be given some consideration for the best at Man U ever. But so far he doesn't even come close to Henry in the Prem.I know that comment will cause outrage amongst those who tend to forget anything beyond a couple of years, but look at Henry's hi lights and the teams he did it against in the Prem and it's no contest.

He is the best footballer (on form) in the world at the moment.

But the greatest of all time? He's no where close.

I really don't think he's the best in the world.
I mean looking at the goals he's scored for United is one thing ,but the likes of who he is scoring against his lack of assists in the Champions League and i personally have to question that assumption.I can name a few players in the prem who perform consistently in every game regardless of the level of competition.
Makelele,David James,Carvalho,Rio Ferdinand,Vidic,Evra, just to name a few .All these players qualities never lessen whoever the opponent is,it's been proven and Ronaldo can't play as well against the better quality teams.
I still keep in contact with my life long friends in the UK and they say there is an huge amount of hype in todays media, so the constant barrage of "info" telling you what's what has a subliminal effect on how peoples perception becomes. If you keep hearing the same thing enough times ,you start believing it.

i guess i'm at an advantage in that sense as the media hype in the uk doesn't affect me ,and what i say probably seems outrageous to my countrymen, but hey....it's only my opinion.

I used to feel like that, Like the English media was brainwashing some peoples views on here but how anyone can argue that he's not the best in the world at the minute is outrageous.

You said "but the likes of who he is scoring against his lack of assists in the Champions League"...I don't know how many assists he has but how can you say he's not the best due to the teams he's playing against. He can only score against the teams put in front of him. He's the top scorer in Europe. For a midfielder, thats phenomenal. I hate the pwrick but he's out of reach from anyone else in world football at the minute

'assists in the champs league' Laughing You really are clutching at straws now, it is ok to admit you were wrong you know?

I too am unaffected by any football media pretty much but I am entirely convinced he is the best player in the world at the moment.

because those're basically people who want him for their team but the reality tells a different thing.. and so others could only come up with the contradictory instead..

well.. maybe.. for some.. not all.. but then my words are biased.. lol..

If he has a few more seasons like the one hes had this season then i think he could be considered one of the greatest of all times.

Long way off. He needs to make his mark on at least a couple of big international tournaments like Pele and Maradona did.

He's probably the best player in the world right now but personally I think more by default because of Messi having a couple of spells on the sidelines.

Completely agree there.

He is probably the greatest player 'at the moment' but no where near 'of all time'.

If he can influence a major tournament like Pele did in Mexico, and Maradona in '86, then he could start to be mentioned in the same breath as the above mentioned greats.

Yeh good point johaldo. He has been fantastic in the premier league the past few years but to be the greatest of all time needs to dominate in tournaments likie World Cup, European championships and maybe do even better in the Champions League.

He does have the talent to be one of the greatest of all time, but will he im not too sure.

is this being serious ronaldo cannot be classed in the same league as past greats yet... platini and cryuff are still platforms he needs to reach not to mention zidane as well if he wins more major honours with united and preforms on the international stage then he could achieve that mantle.....

Still dont think he'll eclipse maradona....

Who else comes close at the minute? All the worlds top players havn't exactly been on fire over the last few months. He's the best in the world at the minute and anyone that doesn't agree either is on the wind up or clueless

How far is Ronaldo off being the greatest of all time?
