Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan has admitted that it is highly likely that French midfielder Charles N'Zogbia will quit the club in the summer.
The 21-year-old joined the Magpies in the summer of 2004 from Le Havre, but appears to have decided to head for pastures new, despite having three years left on his current contract.
Keegan commented: "When I first came in there were eight days left of the transfer window. Charles and his agent wanted to move him out of here and I wouldn't allow that.
"I said if he did his best until the end of the season and felt the same way, I would let him go if he still wanted to go. But it would be on our terms because he has three years left on his contract here.
"If he can learn to be a team player with his individual skill, he'll be a hell of an asset for any club. I would like that club to be Newcastle.
"We have 16 or 17 players who are totally committed, as a pack, to taking this club forward and Charles has got to come into it a little bit more.
"I think he has been told that by the other players, that both them and myself would like to keep him here, but he's got to be fully committed."
N'Zogbia, who can also play at left-back, has scored nine goals in 130 appearances for the Magpies to date |
if n'zogbia were to leave, then i have to say i'd be a bit pi$$ed off. he his such a good player already, and with a bit more confidence and experience, he's going to be something great. he's had an on/off season for us. he's had a few injuries to contend with, but unfortunately when he is fit he has usually just been a bench warmer. so in fairness i dont blame him for wanting to move in order to play regular football.
Tottenham and
Arsenal are the teams linked with him so far.
