Reports are surfacing that Newcastle has already made contact with John Arne Riise’s representatives.

It is believed that Kevin Keegan would like to add the out-of-favour left-back to his depleted squad. Riise’s contract runs out in 2009 and is least likely to be offered a new contract.

He is valued at around £4-5 million. He has found himself playing second fiddle to Fabio Aurelio.

I'd be a little sad to see Riise leave, but he's not really shown the form of old this year. If he could do that in the remaining games i'd have him in the squad as our only natural left-footed left-winger, but i don't think he's too keen on not playing regularly after doing just that for years here.

I hope he stays in the Premier League though, and Newcastle would probably be an obvious route. They'll probably be rebuilding and questionmarks i think are still over Enrique's head, who he'd have to displace to earn a starting spot.

What do Newcastle fans think?

i would love to sign him. although i think Enrique is getting more and more used to the prem i would rather have riise. Riise has played in the prem for a few years now and has done a good job for Liverpool. If the toon get riise it will be our wing backs sorted for me. people dont know how well beye has done this season, he has been our best player.

i agree, but only for the latter stage of the season. he was a bit shaky and quiet when he played at the start, but definately of late he has been outstanding for us.

as for riise, who wouldnt want him tbh. a great versatile player to have in your squad, and despite playing in defence, he has scored some cracking goals.
