You can't combine Premier League goals of two players and produce anything worthwhile by comparing it to another players' total tally.

Ronaldo has hardly scored more than Torres in reality, considering that the Portuguese takes penalties (scoring 5 in total (although i'm not sure whether that's solely in the Premier League or in all competitions)). Torres doesn't, and if he did (or Ronaldo didn't) he would be just a couple of goals off Ronaldo.

I'd be interested to see either players' assist tally (not that i think Torres has more).

Come on guys....all this Liverpool bias for Torres is going a little bit over the top.

Fact - Torres is looking good because he is playing in a team FULL of average squad players.

Fact - SAF was just 3 hours away from signing him for United but instead opted for Tevez as he thought he was better value for money. As I believe he is too, and a better all round contributor to team play.

Fact - If Torres was in the United squad he would probably have less goals than Tevez has now.

what are you on about!!
tevez will never score 30 goals for Man United in one season. he hardly starts a game.
i get on with some Man United fans but theres always a few with their heads up their own ar$e$.

I think that was the point I was making old chap. Calm down Jacy boy Wink

no, the point you were making was that tevez is better then torres when tevez doesnt even get to start sometimes. i think torres would be ahead of Rooney in any team, but you Man United fans love him. i must say that tevez does score important goals for Man United but hes not in torres's league.

Obviously SAF disagrees with you, preferring to sign Tevez when he also had the option of Torres.

so all of his buys have been amazing players in the past?. i cant say hes not a good manager but he should have signed him over tevez. i didnt think torres would have had the impact he had in his first season, who know what he can do next year....

No, SAF has made some mistakes, probably more than most given the length of time he has been a manager. Torres has been fantastic for Liverpool, there is no doubt about it, he is an out n out striker, whereas both Rooney and Tevez offer a more fluid option up front and in support of midfield.

If you are assessing a players importance on goals scored then you would have to Pick ronaldo, but i would like to think we are a bit more sophistacted than that.Tevez a shown his ability with his heroic play for the relegation threatened West Ham. Torres nor ronaldo have done such things and may never have the chance to do so.I think Tevez' role is completely different with United than West Ham so you have to look at what he's doing in a different way.One thing is for sure If Torres is not in scoring he does very little for his team from what i can tell, same for Ronaldo to a degree, but Tevez is a complete team player who works his *ss off all over the field.

well i dont. why we talking about what tevez done for westham, wasnt that last season??tevez was great for westham but the only reason torres and ronaldo wont get that chance is because they are far 2 good for that.
in the few games that torrres hasnt scored he hasnt just stood still for 90mins, he works hard and tries goin down the wing and that. a stricker like torres works hard all game because he can score an important goal out of nothing. like the goal in the CL against Arsenal Razz

I believe he is talking about what Tevez did for West Ham because it gives an indication of what Tevez is capable of doing, where as this season he hasn't had the same opportunties because of limited appearances due to competition for places. Torres has no competition at Liverpool, and he definitely doesn't offer as much variation to team play as do Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney. I agree he works hard for the team.

You until just now when I realised you're Irish not Scottish. It still stands though just with Ireland instead of Scotland.

Well Torres offers a real aerial threat, whereas Rooney and Tevez offer almost no threat in the air at all.

Torres is a good header of the ball.....no doubt about it, but both Rooney and Tevez have scored recently with headers.

I wouldn't put it quite like that Sticky, but I agree that Torres is probably better, however your original statement that 'they are no threat' with their heads is obviously NOT correct. Don't you agree?

Torres isn't really an aerial threat. He scores headers but so do all strikers no matter how small. Most defenders are a lot better in the air than Torres.

Well obviously everyone can pose a threat with their head, but i think both are poor in the air. Tevez has done quite well recently, and isn't the worst in the world when it comes to heading, but he is too small. Rooney is also small, and isn't much use with his head. So no, i wouldn't say they pose much of a threat in the air.

Agreed that neither have much chance in the air against some of the 6ft plus defenders, but then again, Torres isn't that big either, but Torres can head a ball, no doubt about that. Tevez also scored a great header against Roma only last week.

Torres 6' 1" Rooney 5'10"

Ron for both.
Although it would be nice to see Torres getting an award.

Who votes in this?
Just thinking if he took the [beep!] too many times out of defenders, then they might not vote for him. Just out of spite. Laughing

And who fed that load of shite to you?

Deluded doesn't even come close. United have been tracking Torres for years and Ferguson has been a massive admirer enquiring on more than a few occassions.

Tevez? Do me a favour. He's been a good squad player for United. Torres has been the best player this Season for us and the best Striker in the League this year BAR NONE.

About 2 years ago at school my friend was talking about Man U signing Torres. He showed me something on the Man U website about it (THE OFFICIAL Manchester United WEBSITE). I can't remember exactly what it said, but it was clear they were admirers of him, and were trying to sign him. I seem to remember him or it saying they were signing him, so they must've made an offer. But we already know that anyway. They made more than one offer.

I remember the photo of him clearly. He was bald, and looked as chavy as you can get.

Relax. He's just on the wind-up.

Anyway, Fergie admitted this season that he tried signing him but every time he went to enquire Torres was either unsure, wanting to stay another season with Atletico, or signing a new contract so he eventually gave up. They wanted him. And thank [beep!] they didn't get him, they'd be unstoppable (assuming they disposed of Wes Brown).
