Mexico Football Federation president Justino Compean has revealed that former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and Marcello Lippi are among the candidates to take charge of the national team for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Compean confirmed that Mexican Football Federation general secretary Decio de Maria will speak with the two currently unemployed coaches about the position following the dismissal of Hugo Sanchez late last month.

Mourinho, who left Stamford Bridge early this season to be replaced by Avram Grant, and Lippi join a wish list that also includes Portugal head coach Felipe Scolari and Atletico Madrid boss Javier Aguirre.

'De Maria will fly out next weekend to interview them,' said Compean.

'We have appointments with Scolari and Lippi and we are also looking to meet Mourinho.

'We want to know firstly if they are interested in working here.'

Jesus Ramirez has taken over as Mexico coach on an interim basis following the departure of Sanchez, who was dismissed after the Mexican U-23 squad failed to qualify for the Olympics.

'We know that none of them will be cheap, but money it is not an obstacle,' Compean added.

'No matter how much it will cost, we want a winner.'

Yeah i agree with that, i think the only realistic one there is Agiuarre, he may go anyway if Atletico dont finish top4. But Mourinho and Lippi surely wont go there, would be a massive step-down for them considering they could walk into just about any job if any big teams become managerless.

Jose has stated on numerous occasions that he intends to coach a team either in Serie A or La Liga, he also pointed out that he'd like to coach Portugal later on in his career.
