Liverpool should snap him up as he still has plenty time to develop and Finnan is in his thirties so he hasn't got many seasons left and i can see him going off to Portsmouth or somebody like that.

Lol, Liverpool could never afford him. He would probably cost about £25m, and they would have Real Madrid, Barca, Chelsea and Man U all bidding for him. They can all outbid Liverpool.

Depends because if Liverpool win the champion's league this year ( im not saying they will) he might want a move to Anfield, and the money they get from winning may give them enough financial capability to sign him.

Just think hes the sort of player that would take them forward plus Torres is there and could benefit the spain international team lol Smile

So Alves wants out?..........AGAIN?

Alves is a money grabbin' mercenary, its all he's interested in, nothing else. Bigger club? Do me a favour! Bigger wage packet more like.

Maybe he can join McManaman & Owen in forming a new exclusive club!? Oh & Tevez! Razz

Alves is a shocking 'defender'. I wouldn't want him anywhere near Liverpool.

Sir Alex To Launch Alves Bid
Sir Alex Ferguson is targeting Sevilla wingback Daniel Alves for a summer move to Manchester United

United scouts were in Spain recently to watch Alves play, and they were rewarded as the Brazil international put on a stunning display in Sevilla’s 2-0 win over Villarreal.

With the right-back position in need of reinforcement at Old Trafford, Ferguson is preparing to launch a ₤25 million bid in an attempt to lure Alves away from the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona.

And the 24-year-old, who had a proposed move to Stamford Bridge blocked earlier this season, has confessed he would be thrilled to play for any of the major parties interested in him.

"I was upset when Sevilla turned down the Chelsea offer," the Brazilian said.

"I wouldn't wish the disappointment I felt on anyone. It was very hard.

"But if I leave this summer and get a deal which makes me as happy then perhaps it was not a disaster. I know Barca, Real Madrid, Chelsea and United want me and I'd be honoured to go to any of them.

"The key thing is I move to develop my career and that I keep on winning trophies."

Alves has won back-to-back UEFA Cups with Sevilla and clinched Copa America with Brazil last summer, but his thirst for silverware is far from quenched.

He added: "I need to play for a team which is always in the Champions League, which goes out to win every game and which has a philosophy of attacking football."

I doubt Ferguson would go in for him. For starters it would cost them alot of money. If he was going to play rightback then that means Brown and Neville missing out and why would tehy of got Brown to sign a new contract if he was to be third choice. If he was going to play left back, id of said Evra is a better leftback than his so why would they be spending so money on a replacement left back.

Owen left because he wasn't in the team. Tevez left because he is a world class player playing for a team that just avoided relegation. McManaman left to play for the worlds greatest club instead of a mediocre one he'd spent his whole career at, he was an Evertonian too so don't play the boyhood club card. Irregardless of money everyone on this board would have made the exact same decision in all three cases.

Alves would be a good player for any team and he is as good as Sergio Ramos in his own way, he might be underperforming currently, but perhaps it's because he wants a move.

Agreed.

The Sevilla team is built around him and he can attack all he wants.

I think Crabhead is referring to Owen running down his contract at Liverpool and joining Madrid at a cut-price deal, rather than him leaving Madrid. Hence the "mercenary" tag.

Same deal as MacManaman then. He played for Liverpool a long time and still they couldn't challenge for league. You can't blame him for wanting to play at the top level and Real Madrid were the biggest club in the world then. Can you really say that given the chance you wouldn't jump at the chance to play in a team with Zidane, Figo, Roberto Carlos, Raul, Ronaldo and Beckham? You only get one career and Owen didn't want to waste it in the Uefa Cup when he could do better.

It's not that he left us for a bigger club, but that he ran his contract done purposely knowing that Madrid probably wouldn't pay £20+million for him. We got £8million and Antonio bloody Nunez for him.

That said, we should have sold him earlier if he wasn't signing. Parry's fault as usual.

What choice did he have if he wanted to move to a bigger club and no one was offering enough money. He could of gone on strike, been a jerk about it like Anelka or something but he kept playing and scoring. Liverpool surely knew he wanted to leave but did nothing about it.

Well whatever the case he sold the club out for his career (which backfired...), so the club (read: fans) aren't going to like him for it are they?

They should think a bit more sensibly and put things in perspective. A player like Owen was a top farward at one time and with only one career he wanted to have it alongside the best players of his era in Figo, Raul, Zidane and Ronaldo winning Champions League and La Liga titles. No shame in that.

Well it's not a desirable way of acting. But i did say we (/Parry) were to blame for not having him signed.

You can't expect people to be happy with him for screwing us over to benefit his career, though. Even if it is to better his career. He didn't have to do it (i.e. could've gotten to the top by other methods), but was ultimately selfish.

He tried to stick it out with Liverpool though but they weren't getting closer to the league.

I'm willing to bet as much as you are able to put up G_Man Wink

Anyway, playing Alves behind Ronaldo would be absolute suicide, it'll never happen in a million years.
