He ran off the pitch when subbed Laughing He's just a big guy though. His big head makes him look bigger than he is. 13-14stone is normal for a guy that size. I'm 13-14 stone myself and 6ft. I looks skinny with it though.

Running around like a idiot after the ball doesn't always help and looks like school boy football where everyone chases the ball. Sunderland players ran after everyball like headless chickens, it doesn't work. Quick accurate passes are much better at getting the ball where you want it. Martins is our runner, he's the one that can do the tricks and dribble the ball. Viduka is our big Man Up front who can hold the ball up while Owen can feed of these two. I think it works well when it works. All 3 can score but Owen will always get more than those two.

Laughing

To be fair to Viduka his game isn't based on running so he can probably get away with being a bit porky.

Michael Owen seems to have found a new lease in life of late, starting to perform a little like the Owen of old.
Second half I thought Sunderland got back into the game really well, despite not creating any clear cut chances until Jones's header.

Fair play to the Geordies for riding out the storm and taking the points.

Penguin Jones Laughing not a bad player to be honest. Yeah Sunderland got back into it but they never looked like they would score.

Ahhh....my favourite Michael Owen has silenced his critics yet AGAIN...despite his injuries he's still baggin the goals. Looks like he's more suited for the midfielder type role vs just being a striker.

I really wish Keegan would have taken off Viduka first, so Owen and Martins could be upfront....I still want to see the partnership between these two.

it was geremi, lol
but he did nothing else, gave the ball away loads. i would have took him off at halftime. hes only still in the team because we have been winning. he has had one good game in the last 6. that was when he scored against Spurs. i know your not meant to change a winning team but i would stil rather see milner in there. beye was doing all geremi's work.

i know. but i would have took him off at half time. did you see how many times he gave the ball away. milner has a better coss and is better at tacking back. against a better team geremi could have cost us.

Too true Tinks, despite all their possession they badly lacked any sucker punch.

Yeah I really don't know why Nzogbia doesn't start...Geremi is absolutely horrendous....his free kicks, corners, and sometimes even passing is very poor.

so a few members here are left with egg on their face after suggesting Keegan will take Newcastle down to the Championship and that his appointment as Newcastle boss was the biggest joke since the hiring of Steve Mclaren as England boss .

admittedly Keegan started with an appalling run and it did look grim for Toon fans , but since that first win Newcastle have not only managed to secure their status in the Premier League ...they have also risen up the table and are now 12th .. only goal difference serperates them and 11th place Tottenham .. not bad for a team everyone was laughing at only a short while ago .

So i have to give credit to Keegan for turning it around in the face of intense pressure ....i like Newcastle and they do play entertaining football ...i hope Keegan can really make something of Newcastle next season ..

oh ..they really should have hammered Sunderland .....

are you kidding?

look at the teams they have beaten. hardly awe inspiring.

werent Newcastle 12th when 'king' kev took over? so he has merely stayed the same. relegation was only mentioned because of how pathetic they were under keegan. it was never dreamt of under allardyce.

look at his overall record and not just the last 5-6 games.

keegan put the 'intense' pressure on himself for the pathetic performances at the start of his campaign.

while Newcastle are on form the surrounding teams have nothign to play for, Newcastle have a lot of making up to do to their fans and are playing for their positions next season.

he has won like 4 out of about 14, hardly egg on anybodies faces!

Newcastle V Sunderland!
