According to the Corriere dello Sport, Gennaro Gattuso has decided that he wants to leave Milan at the end of the season.

Midfield hardman Gattuso has had an under-par campaign for the Rossoneri, and has performed way below the levels that saw him crowned World Champion with Italy in 2006, and European Champion with Milan last season.

There have been strong reports in the Italian media over the past fortnight that Gattuso could be leaving Milan at the end of the season.

Three of the biggest clubs linked with making a move for the 30-year-old have been Real Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

According to the Corriere, Gattuso has decided that he wants to leave Milan, and join an overseas team in a climate which is less intense than Serie A.

This would bring to an end an excellent nine-year career at San Siro for the Calabrian-born star, who joined from Salernitana in 1999.

Meanwhile Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has stated his belief that Gattuso will choose to stay.

“Rino has a long contract with Milan and he’s a big Rossoneri’s fan,” said the transfer guru.

“From the 19th of May I will be available for any player and agent to talk about anything, but everything seems to indicate that Rino will remain here for a long time.

“However, I don’t talk about the market with any player until the end of the season.”

This would be bad news if he left. Although he has performed bad this season so have all other players in Milan.

I don't want him to leave just because of a bad season. However, if perhaps he is getting tired and feels he is not physically ready to continue Serie A football then he should do what's best for his body. Though he would be a great loss Sad

Where do you think he would go?

I don't rate him THAT highly, but if Milan will suffer from his loss, then i ain't complaining. Sorry Max.

He is or was a great holding player. His presence on the field sometimes inspires his teammates. He is useful and very good at what he does.

What I've heard is that one of the reasons he wants to leave for is because he's tired of running for 4. Milan's midfield is actually very offensive with Seedorf and Kaka and Pirlo doesn't help Gattuso to cover the pitch as it should happen in every team

Not always but yes I have noticed that as well. Pirlo does come in for support not often. Though to be fair Pirlo is more of a passing player. I think it should be Ambrosini's job to back up Gattuso.

But with the way the Milan defense has been recently he has had to do double work defensively.

Yep, seems like a move to Bayern wasn't ever going to happen.
