Heard this rumour this morning. Don't know if there's any truth in it, but he's on a Bosman in the summer, and would be good experienced back up to Reina. A lot better than Itandje!

Lol like Schwarzer is going to play second-fiddle to anyone! Not only is he nearing the end of his career so sitting on the bench isn't an option, he's good enough to start at most EPL teams.

All the talk last transfer window was that he'll be going to Bayern and replacing Kahn.

I'd love him playing at Liverpool but he is experienced and good enough to be playing in most EPL teams. Also benchwarming isn't his thing, makes him quite tempermental. You can read all about that in his World Cup diary or autobiography Laughing

What's wrong with Itandje??? For one he just doesn't look like a keeper does he? And his performances just havn't exactly inspired us this season have they? I know he's not playing regular, but given the choice of him or Schwarzer to cover for Pepe if he got injured, it'd be the Big Oz for me every time.

And Jac - There may be better keeprs about, but his experience and ability availble on a Bosman would make him a half decent signing as back up for Pepe.

Can't see Schwarzer wanting to see out his career on the bench personally. As for Itandje, of course he hasn't been convincing, but when you basically never play it's impossible to expect a keeper to come in cold and put in confident performances.

Bayern have a replacement lined up already in Rensing. They are also heavily linked with Boruc and both Schwarzwer & Jaaskalinen (sp?) are being touted as Artur's replacement at Celtic

What must 'keepers look like?

It depends. I suppose if you are talking about the Havant/Barnsley games then no, no they haven't. But perhaps you'd like to take into consideration that nearly every one of our players looked shaky in those FA Cup games, including Skrtel having an absolute shocker (...look at him now...). It's nerves. Nerves which took our entire side. If you look at the Chelsea Carling Cup game he was very good, making key saves to keep us in the tie - only being beaten by a typical Frank Lampard ricochet shot, crazily looping into the net. And then there's Luton, where he was decent also. He again made key saves in one-on-one situations only to be beaten by a Riise own-goal.

I think most people have made their opinion up based on him making a hash of the cross for Barnsley's first goal. Yes there are better, but such 'keepers will be inclined to be first choice at good clubs.

As already mentioned, Bayern is interested in signing him. Not to replace Kahn but as a reserve keeper, because the number 1 has already been promised to the current reserve keeper Michael Rensing.

Schwarzer has affirmed the rumor and stated that it would be nice to end his career at Bayern. He would probably be signed for 2 years.
let's see...

He'll play longer then 2 years. He says he wants to play at the upcoming World Cup.

He's a fairly good keeper, his best years are behind him though i think, his performances don't seem to impress like they once did. Not good enough for a top four team in my opinion, and at his stage of his career he would not be satisfied with a place on the bench.

hope so, Boro are one of the teams I see being willing to take a punt on Robbo and take him off our books.

Yesterday from Eurosport News...

Mark Schwarzer is keen to end his career in the Bundesliga as it is reported Bayern Munich are considering a move for the goalkeeper.

It is understood that Jurgen Klinsmann, who is set to become Bayern manager in the summer, is keen to attract the Australian shot-stopper to the Allianz Arena.

Schwarzer, who is out of contract with Boro in the summer, looks set to quit The Riverside at the end of the season as it appears he is unlikely to be offered the new two-year deal he desires.

The 35-year-old has admitted that a move to Germany would appeal and Bayern could prove a likely destination as Klinsmann searches for a replacement for Oliver Kahn, who retires in June.

Schwarzer said in The Sun: "It would be nice to finish my career in the Bundesliga."

Once again, they want him. But not as a replacement for Kahn. There is no doubt that Rensing will get the chance next season.

Schwarzer to Liverpool??
