Yeah i think so too, Fiorentina would be too good for a full strength Rangers team, nevermind one without thompson and ferguson. Im gonna have to say a fiorentina vs Bayern final Sad

Funnily enough, i think the best chance Zenit have against Bayern is in Munich, where the pitch standard is of a high level and Zenit can get it on the floor and move it around, as they did in Leverkusen. They are not really able to open up high quality teams in Petersburg as the pitch is so poor. Should be an interesting tie that's for sure.

As for Rangers and Fiorentina, i think it will depend on each's home form. The first leg is at Ibrox so if Rangers can defend well and perhaps score a goal then they can do what they have done before, go into the away leg and concentrate on defending and grabbing a goal on the counter attack.

I never expected them to get past Sporting or Bremen so I expect them to get past Fiorentina and go on to beat Bayern in the final

I'm amazed bayern are still in! great result for the gers, only 2 goals conceded in 6 uefa cup games now so that kind of defending can take them all the way.
shame fiorentina wont be wearing green and white too though Laughing

i'd love to see rangers reach the final. it would be great for them, good representation for britain if they reach it. they've already knocked out bremen and lisbon who are two big teams, so i dont see why they cant go one more and reach the final.

i can see a rangers v munich final.

Your idea is interesting and, probably, right. To play in Petersburg or somewhere in the South was not an easy choice but Zenit's fans would have strongly disagreed with any other decision - and Zenit is a very "fans-dependent" team.
However poor our chances be they are better than those of Rangers against Fiorentina.

I agree, but not because of the pitch. Luca Toni is missing because of his third yellow card, Klose has a foot injury (not sure if he can play) and van Bommel has a broken nose (will play).

If they don't take this chance, they won't make it to the final.

I just saw the match. Wow what a boring and ugly game. No flash of inspiration or any moments of brilliance.

Yes Klose played, but he doesn't do very well at the moment. Toni on the other hand scored two goals in each of the last four matches, 35 goals in his very first season at Bayern so far. He's a genius.

And it's true. The game wasn't very exiting to watch. Nothing special except some nice pieces of skill by Ribery and another perfect game by Martin Demichelis.
I mean just watch this guy. He makes no mistakes, hardly ever commits a foul. It doens't get much better then this. He's playing the season of his life.
In my opinion, he's currently the best centre-back in the world.

This game was a joke. haven't seen such a bad bayern play for years.

0 pressure on the opponent, no aggression, no teamplay, horrible individual performances. looks like they hadn't trained for weeks.

schweinsteiger was a catastrophe. 2 of the goals were his fault. i swear i could do better than him. there is no excuse for leaving him in. and this is not the first time he played so bad. he has played a horrible season but gets his chances again and again. are you kidding me?
why not give 18-year-old super talent toni kroos a chance?

good job ottmar hitzfeld, you ruined my day. go pack bags and ruin the swiss national team. how can you not win the uefa cup with such a team? i'm really looking forward to klinsmann. it can only get better.

still there's one good thing about this match. we know how which positions have to be reconsidered. we can't replace altintop on the right (broke his foot) and the players who could play this position don't get any chances. it's schweinsteiger again and again, even though he can't play on the right. isn't much better on the left either. we desperately need a right winger for the next season.

It's a shame that Kahn's international career has to end like this.

congrats to zenit by the way. they played fantastic. they can easily win the final with such a performance.

I've seldom seen Bayern this year, but judging from their performance in the two events against Zenit Schweinsteiger and Podolsky (especially the latter) are not up to the mark in such a team. Demichelis is really brilliant - the only one. Toni - a typical dependent striker, whose weak points were used to the full this evening. Riberi - isn't he overstated to a certain extent?
Generally speaking - + 1 to Ant. Neither traditional German passion and pressure nor individual performance. The centre was fully lost to Zenit as was the case in the second half in Munich. Didn't Hitzfeld bother to look for some way out?
Kahn - by far the most respected person in German football for many years - by no means deserves such endpoint in his international career.

I just left watching the match after the 4th goal and did not even finish it.

What a sad shame to see them beaten like that.

Zenit are going from strength to strength in this tournament, peaking at just the right moment. I wouldn't bet against them lifting the trophy. A terrific feat when you consider they've had to play in the competition through their domestic mid-season break, and also the fact that they lost what i can likely assume was their star defender in Martin Skrtel to Liverpool.

It's extra-time between Fiorentina and Rangers, and i hope the Gers can knick it. It'd be refreshing to have a final made without a Spanish, English or Italian side.

I think their best bet is penalties though, the way things have been going.

While agree that I would like to see a non-English/Spanish/Italian final I do want Fiorentina to win it simpy because they have been playing quite well this season but will not get the Scudetto. So at least they should get this for their hard work.
