If United or Chelsea switched to Serie A

Do you think they'd dominate Serie A just like they have done to the Premier League? Serie A is a lot tougher and it's really hard to score goals even against the small teams. It's also a tactical league so teams like Liverpool would fit perfectly in.

What do you mean by 'tactical'? I think if a team is good they are good and can win anywhere.

If the Champions League clashes have any bearing on it. If United or Chelsea were to go and play in Serie A, they would dominate.

Arsenal disposed of AC Milan (with relative ease)
Liverpool disposed of Inter Milan (with ease)
Man United disposed of Roma (with ease)

With Inter and Roma being the top two teams in Serie A getting manhandled in CL play.

Serie A has been much weaker since the whole scandal thing, but i don't think either Man U or Chelsea would dominate. They certainly wouldn't have last season. Inter were just too strong. It would be between them and Inter though - the rest are some way behind.

As for the CL clashes - they have little bearing on it. Inter were unfairly dispatched with ease, but if it wasn't for the sending off of Materazzi in the first game, and Burdisso in the second leg it could've been a different story. Not to mention that Inter had their best player from the first leg injured (then conceded two goals at the end) so in the second leg, they had to play with their 5th and 6th choice centre backs. FIFTH AND SIXTH CHOICE!!!

We could go back to AC Milan last season though, where they destroyed Man U - who on the league, and then beat Liverpool in the final.

The English style of play actually does really well against Italian teams most of the time. It's Spanish teams where we traditionally get schooled.

This is a totally pointless question and thread.

Anyway the European rankings already give a good indication of the relative strengty of teams in Europe. United dominate those rankings.

I'm not talking about United/Chelsea vs Inter/Roma/Milan/Juve because Juve have already defeated those 3 but still aren't topping Serie A. I'm talking about the very tactical and defensive play the Italians utilize. It's nothing like the English or Spanish team as they always to try to play for a draw against the big teams. Just wondering if United/Chelsea can actually cope with such a style in 38 matches.

Serie A is waaay too defensive. United and Chel$ki would still take the honours, the difference being less goals. I like goals, so leave United and Chel$ki in England, thanks.

you cannot really judge how Man Utd and Chelsea would do in Serie A based on a few matches in Europe over a few years ...

The league as we all know is entirely different from cup matches ....

It's a pretty asinine question anyway, but what else can we judge it on. They aren't a perfect marker but they are the best we've got surely?

you mean defensive style?.. that'd be so boring to watch.. and one more thing.. we'd concede more goals with playing defensive.. as the opponents would force for more ck and fk or worse.. pk..
