At least one of the Arsenal teams has won something Wink

I like the Leeds kit, It reminds me of one of the old Sweden away kits. Adidas aren't the sponsors of the mens team are they?

dreadul finishing the usual falling asleep in defence, we should have murdered them Twisted Evil
More seriously what was Leeds gameplan ? let us have a go at them ? normally they press the
opposition defence from their penalty area and don't let them breathe but today they waited until the halfway line? made no sense to me?

The second half was more encouraging, I was sat next to an old man who was eating melted chocolate the whole game and was obsessed by Jayne Ludlow and kept asking me questions about the players and coming physically close (I am auckward re my personal space). I'll post some photos later. I couldn't believe the streaker then going near faye white of all the players !

I watched the recording I'd made, and at on stage BBC showed Arsenal had 40 shots to Leeds 6 Shocked

But, how did the Beeb's live coverage miss the streaker? Confused

Nice day out though, and managed to see a distant view of the 5 of us sitting watching on the recording Smile

I got up went down and starting watching. Just as that Smith lass scored. That was a top class finish and shame about all the other goals going in. I was happy when it was 0-0.

But our Smithy scored a better goal than that. Very Happy Jess Clarke with a good headed too. Wink
Didnt quite catch many of the Leeds players names (when they had the ball) but Carly Telford got a combination of looks and being a good keeper. Always good.

Who was that cutie who wasnt smiling at the medal awards, but was when coming on as a sub to a streaker?
I guess this was a male streaker too?

Found it a pretty boring game first half, that's why I went out and recorded the second half. Glad I did because sunshine was cracking yesterday Cool

Second half was a lot better and it was nice to see Leeds get a goal...I did actually cheer Confused It was still clear they weren't going to get a come back.

Alex Scott played very, very well. She really is an awesome player Smile Carney and Smith were OK in my eyes, nothing spectacular...may be due to the heat...or me?

Our midfield, first half espeacially, really heavy and sloppy first touches. I remember Jayne Ludlow on a few occasions, pretty bad...still Leeds did pressure well in midfield but they never got passing.

I wondered what had happend because the camera was just on the face of the substitue for quite a while then Guy said there was a streaker, and the camera panned to Jayne who was laughing...the Beeb would never let a streaker be shown they always pan away!!!! Getty do have a pic of her...bit surprised it was a woman but it made the game funny Laughing

Carly was immense in goal, Brown has a lot of pressure to deal with for that England spot. When they interviewed Carly they said something about England, can't remember what it was now but it made me laugh because Rachel was sitting up top Wink

The streaker was funny she went quite near Faye !!

Here are some photos

JM I agree regarding alex scott she works her socks off and to me improves more and more which is encouraging for england, she was my Arsenal player of the game

I think Jayne thought she was playing rugby in the first half with her shots on goal I know she's welsh and probably a big rugby fan !

I agree Alex did a lot of damage on the wing a bit surprise they did not pull their left win to track her actually.
Alex can definitely compete with Aluko for the center forward position because she could have had a hat trick yesterday.

Someone tell Hope , another striker in the making Laughing

Arsenal deserved to win the cup , created more chances. Agree Scott should of had a hattrick , just wasn't her day. It was good to see Fleets back on the pitch briefly.

Nice pics Brynie

There is something that I really do not understand with Leeds and thta is why did they not try to pressurise us ? I saw them at Chelsea and their deensive organisation was brilliant : a 4-2-4 that did not allow the opposing team to breathe and attack properly.
The only two teams who beat us or drew with us this season used the pressing tactics combined with long balls on the wing behind our full backs. So why did Leeds decide to let us have a go at them is really a mystery to me and I am quite happy or them to that again

Maybe they were hoping they could keep it 0-0 and end up with a penalty shoot out. They have a good record in them after all Laughing

Vics reaction after the final:

on keeping belief : " I really kept the belief that we would go on and get the goal that we needed. Obviously the goalkeeper's performance was outstanding. I came very close to signing her myself. But we done our job in the end , stuck to our task. I must say it was easy for me at half time because I just said keep going as you are , play the way they knew they can ".

on the remaining a contest: " In fairness I thought it could have been any score going into the interval. The game was kept alive and I am pleased in some sense that was the case because it probably added to the crowd's excitement ".

on the opponents: " Leeds never gave up. Even when we beat them 5-0 a couple of years ago they still didn't. They keep chasing , keep hassling. So today it was really good for them that they got their goal and almost had a way back into the game ".

on setting another record: " That is three tomes in a row and we have now set the record of nine finals , and we have won all of them ".

on the atmosphere : The atmosphere today was fantastic. I spoke with the gentleman from the FA who organised it and congratulated him. It has been marvellous for two years now. That , though , doesn't take away from the fact that I think the women's final should be at Wembley. They play all the big men's games so I think they should be able to fit this major day into the calendar. That is not to take anything away from the people of Nottingham because they have had two good years and it is quite an achievement to have got the crowds they have done ".

on only winning the 'Double ' : No , it is not at all a disappointment. Being a realist I accept that after our achievement last season , it wont always happen for you like that. We went out of Europe early this year to a very good side and lost the League Cup too. People probably thought we were on our heels but we came back and won the league and now the FA Cup. This is the biggest day in the girls calendar and the one that everyone wants to win for day and everything that revolves around it ".

on gunning for Europe : " Europe has never been top of my list. Don't get me wrong though , it was lovely to win it last year but I think it's set up is marked toward teams not in our country; Scandinavian sides. They have a break midway through the season. It means they are rested and we obviously are not. It makes last year's feat all the more commendable ".

on his feelings towards the club : " I am so proud of what we have achieved. For me to head it up after starting it in 1987 is fantastic. Today ( which might not have happened a few years ago ) the club put buses on for all our families and the fans which is a lovely gesture and I hope everybody has had a good day ".
