I know that definitely won't happen seeing as you obviously don't know very much about football.

First of all i have to say that Steven Taylor was amazing! That was one of the best performances i have seen in a black and white shirt in a while. People talk about David wheater having a good future but he has nothing on Steven Taylor. If Rio marked Drogba like that last week we would still be talking about it now. Since it is a Newcastle player im sure people didnt even see it, or atleast wont bother saying just how good it was. People have alot to say about our defence when its bad but it would be nice for him and the rest of the back four to get credit when they put a good defensive display in.
The game was a pretty good game but nothing special. I think Newcastle should have got one goal and 2-1 would have been a fair result. The ref was shocking at times but not to blame for the two goals. Saying that the free kick was a lil harsh but im biased. Taylor should have been awarded man of the match. I dont care if Chelsea won, he was the best player on that pitch by a mile. Chelsea didnt have a great game and they only put us under pressure in patches. I really hope Man United win the title because i cant stand Terry after he wanted Carvalho to waste time. What a dickhead.
We have showed the rest of the prem today that we have improved alot under keegan and next year could be good depending on the summer signings. Parts of the game we moved the ball really well and the defence was solid for most of the game. Owen could have scored but people are always gonna comment when he misses. It wasnt his day but he still worked hard and linked up well with the midfield. I really wanted Beye to have a better game then he did. Im not saying he had a stinker but that was below par. He has been so good this season and this was a chance to show other fans just how good he has been for us.
Well the last game of the season is Everton away. The parts that we played in this game show that we have every chance of getting something out of that game.

Man of the match usually makes a difference in the match and in this case Ballack was the difference. Taylor didn't score as great defenders do and he couldn't stop Ballack from scoring a header (heard it was very poor defending from Newcastle).

You don't care if Chelsea win that's fine, but a team is worth nothing without a win, and as far as I remember Newcastle have one about once in the last 5 matches.

Erm you know nothing mate!
Im trying say this in a nice way but clearly you should not comment on this page.
First of all Taylor was not marking Ballsack for the goal. And if you havnt seen the game how can you comment on who is man of the match. I dont understand you! And another thing, Newcastle were unbeaten in 7 games before this game. Keep to the sections when you know what your talking about next time. Please!

It's not just me who can tell you that he shouldn't be man of the match, here is a player rating:

Newcastle United

Steve Harper: 7.0 – Had little chance with either goal and didn’t have much to do either side of that as Chelsea’s shooting was generally wayward.

Habib Beye: 6.5 – Should have been tighter to Malouda for the second goal. Got forward well at times but was really wasteful in possession whenever he got near the Chelsea box.

Steven Taylor: 6.5 – A decent showing from the centre back, although he will be disappointed with the poor marking from his side for the goal.

Abdoulaye Faye: 6.5 – He had a good game against Drogba and was strong and decisive in his clearances. However he did concede the free kick from which Ballack opened the scoring.

Jose Enrique: 6.0 - Has improved as the season has progressed and did well against Anelka. Offered little as an attacking force though.

Geremi: 6.0 - His set piece deliveries were poor and it was no real surprise to see him subbed for Duff.

Nicky Butt: 7.0 - Fought for everything and was pretty much the creator of all of Newcastle’s best moves. He will be disappointed he didn’t do better against Ballack for the goal.

Joey Barton: 6.0 - Combative as ever but no match for Essien and Mikel in midfield.

Mark Viduka: 6.5 – Some nice touches and held the ball up well but went off injured at half time and was sorely missed in the second half.

Michael Owen: 6.5 - Had his chances but couldn’t quite find the finish. Unlucky with one shot that was cleared off the line by Terry.

Obafemi Martins: 6.5 - Lively, a good outlet with his pace but his shooting lets him down.

Substitutions:

Alan Smith: 5.0 - Replaced Viduka at half time but offered little as an attacking threat. He should have done better against Michael Ballack for the goal.

Damien Duff: 5.5 – His future at Newcastle looks uncertain despite a warm reception from the crowd. Went on a few runs none of which came to anything.

Charles N’Zogbia: n/a Only given last ten minutes by which time the game was lost.

Chelsea

Petr Cech: 7.0 - Only had one save to make in the first half and could have spent the second on the bench he was so underemployed

Paulo Ferreira: 7.0 - Struggled against Martins initially but was a lot more comfortable in the second half and got forward well.

Ricardo Carvalho: 7.0 - Some good tackles but also gave away some silly fouls which is unlike him. Eventually hobbled off and replaced by Alex.

John Terry: 8.0 - Great play to get back and hoof Owen’s shot off the line in the first half. Unlucky not to score early in the second too with a header that came back off the bar.

Wayne Bridge: 7.0 – Solid at left back but then again Geremi wasn’t offering much of a threat for Newcastle.

Michael Essien: 7.5 - Not his most dynamic performance, but even so he was still one of the best players on the pitch, ensuring Chelsea overwhelmed Newcastle at the beginning of the second half.

John Obi Mikel: 7.0 - Tidied up well and dominated possession against Butt and Barton.

Michael Ballack: 7.5 - Yet another important goal for Chelsea to open the scoring with a deft header from a Drogba free kick.

Didier Drogba: 6.5 - Not the Drogba of midweek but even on a bad day he managed to put the ball on Ballack’s head for the goal.

Nicolas Anelka: 4.0 – His lack of goals has left him short of confidence and he never looked like scoring. His first touch and shooting at times were awful and his substitution for Lampard was a good call by his manager. Will not work as a long-term solution played out of position in right wing.

Florent Malouda: 7.5 - Won the free kick from which Chelsea scored their first and took his goal well to win the game.

Substitutions:

Frank Lampard: 7.5 - A super through ball to put Malouda through for the second, goal a big improvement on Anelka the man he replaced.

Alex: n/a - Replaced the injured Carvalho for the last ten minutes

Andry Shevchenko: n/a - Given the last five minutes, which is becoming something of a habit.

Thats a load of [beep!]!. I dont care what the ratings of one site have said, they know nothing. Honest, he was the best player on the pitch. It really does p!ss me off that I contribute to this forum by posting my comments on the game, before and after, and then i have to answer to someone like you who hasnt even watched the game. Wherever you got them ratings from is a joke.

Seriosuly, what?

Man of the Match is, by definition, the man of the match, the player who stood out in the match, the star performer - football is a team game and hence, whilst the result plays a part, it is not pivotal on who receives the trivial award.

Exactly my point, and just being solid in defense isn't going to make you man of the match. You have to be, quoting your words "the player who stood out in the match", and you often do that by either saving defending exceptionally well and stopping the opposition from scoring, or by winning the match, and that he didn't (Taylor).

No matter how much you argue, we all know that what I'm saying is based solely on facts and the rating was from Goal.com, a professional football site, so they probably know how the ratings should be Wink.

Well Del boy i give up! its like talking to a brick wall. When you have watched the match then you can comment on it.
For Ballsack's goal Smith was marking him. NOT TAYLOR!!!
You dont have a clue. The site is a joke, whats stopping that being a Chelsea fan who rated the players. I dont need "expert" opinion to know when one of the Newcastle players has a great game. Why dont you do some threads on your much loved Chelsea and then i will just comment with a load of rubbish and see how you like it.
Its a waste of time talking to someone who thinks they know everything when they missed the match!!

i'll agree with you on that one. a 2-0 loss doesnt really reflect his individual performance. the first goal was not his fault as ballack was not his man. the second was a grreat piece of football that im sure would have beaten a lot of better defences. individually, taylor has the best game for Newcastle. as you said jac, his marking against drogba was great throughout the game.

theres not a lot of emphasis on this game from our point of view, which makes a change because usually when we suffer a defeat people are like lightning to be in with the critisicms. the focus was on Chelsea, who did their job in keeping the pressure on Man Utd going into the final weekend.

Was hoping we could win you the title today but you should do it next Sunday. Chelsea are not good enough to be champions. We could have beat them without it being a big shock.

Newcastle were unlucky.......could easily have scored 2 in this game. I like Martins......he impresses me every time I see him.....I like his work rate......he always looks a threat.

I was listening to Keegan saying he can't do anything to breach the gap with the top 4. He needs to set more realistic targets, maybe a UEFA cup spot next season.

I totally agree with both comments.
Martins has been great under keegan. He has certain areas of his game he needs to work on but hes stil young.
I would be happy with UEFA cup spot next year. It depends on who we buy. The team looks good now but we need to improve in certain positions. A bit of luck would help aswel.
Next season cant get worse then this one though Cool

Martins is a huge waste of potential. Had he been picked up by Ajax or Barca or another top youth academy from a young age he could be world class with that pace, but his technique is poor and he is not an 'intelligent' footballer.
