What d'you think will be made of Chiellini this summer? He was strongly linked to England (Liverpool and Man City) last year.

I think it's pretty obvious that he is going to stay with Juventus. He starts almost every game and is doing well for his career, so unless he asks for a higher salary he is going to stay. Anyway's Juve look like they've set their eyes on Lahm (Bayern)

"Juventus have emerged as the latest big name club reportedly vying for the signature unsettled Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm

The news that Bayern withdrew their offer of a contract extension has created quite a feeding frenzy around the highly-rated 24-year-old full-back, who famously scored the opening goal of the World Cup in Germany against Costa Rica.

Barcelona, Manchester United and AC Milan have all been credited with an interest for the attack-minded defender, who is almost always deployed as left-back despite the fact that he is right-footed.

Bayern supremo Franz Beckenbauer has recently delcared that the exit of Philipp Lahm from the club is by no means definite, despite many signs pointing to the contrary. Lahm’s current Bayern contract runs until 30th June 2009, but has already stated in an interview with ‘Stern’ magazine that he wants to move abroad this summer."

If this moves happens then it's probably the best or 2nd best signing for Juve since Calciopoli!

I hope he moves to Juve. Teams from Spain and particularly Italy need to improve to liven the Champions League up - it's pretty dull having the semi-finals dominated by English teams.

If Juventus were to sign Lahm and then Flamini they'd be massive signings.

Looks like Lahm is going to either United or Barca and Flamini is set for a Milan move (4m per year salary)

Juve offer Iaquinta + Cash for Aquilani

"According to Tuttosport, Juventus are preparing an offer to Roma that will see Alberto Aquilani and Vincenzo Iaquinta swap clubs.

Iaquinta signed for Juve from Udinese last summer but he has had a frustrating season, playing second fiddle to the prolific David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero.

The World Cup winner has started just nine Serie A games all term, and he is looking increasingly likely to leave at the end of the campaign.

In recent days he has been heavily linked with a move to Napoli, but it seems he would prefer to hook up with old Udinese boss Luciano Spalletti at Roma.

Spalletti is a huge admirer of the 28-year-old, and it is believed he may consider an offer from Juve which would see Aquilani move to Turin in return for cash plus Iaquinta.

Aquilani’s future in the Eternal City is in doubt as he has still yet to sign a proposed new contract, and there is still the cloud of a likely foreign takeover hanging over the club.

With the extra cash that Spalletti makes from the exchange, he would then use to buy a new left back.

This season Max Tonetto has been the only natural, senior option in the squad. Toulouse fullback Jeremy Mathieu has long been linked with a transfer to Rome. "

Mellberg is coming to Juve as we all know, what do you guys think of him? Haven't really seen him play but in games he has decent stats as a defender. Should be a great purchase for Juve or?

Mellberg In Teary Villa Farewell

Aston Villa's Olof Mellberg that he was moved to tears by the show of warmth he received from the fans as he said his farewells on the Villa Park pitch.

Mellberg was the centre of attention on Saturday as Villa supporters opted to use the final home game of the campaign as a tribute to the departing defender, who will be leaving for Juventus at season's end.

Swedish shirts, flags and even Viking helmets were everywhere to be seen at Villa Park, though the party atmosphere was dampened somewhat by the shock defeat to Wigan.

"It was obviously mixed emotions for me because it was a poor result but it was fantastic seeing all the yellow shirts and flags and my name was all around the park which was special," said Mellberg, who has been such a valiant servant for his club over the past seven years.

"There was a banner saying "Thanks for the memories" in Swedish which was fantastic," he added.

"It is unusual for both players and fans to be able to thank each other in a way like that knowing you are not going to be at the club after the summer.

"Most things happen in the summer and people don't get to say goodbye or thank you but this is something to be grateful for because I wanted to thank the fans.

"They have been great today and throughout all the years I have been at Villa."

"We (he and his family) were all crying at the end. There were a lot of emotions - the disappointment of not winning but I will probably look back at this game many times."

The Swedish internationa, who secured a pre-contract agreement with Juventus several months ago, concluded by insisting that the future looks bright for his soon to be former side

"It was important for my career coming here and I think the team's future looks bright. Villa have a young squad and talented key players but it is hard work in the Premier League now because a lot of teams are spending money and looking at those positions just behind the big four.

"We are not the only team with ambitions but it looks good because we have had a lot of changes."

Mellberg joined Aston Villa from Racing Santander in 2001 and has since gone on to make more than 200 appearances for the club.

Pavel Nedved has refused to rule out the possibility of extending his stay at Serie A giants Juventus.

The Czech playmaker will be out of contract in the summer and is yet to commit to a new deal at Delle Alpi.

However, with Juventus making it clear that they are keen to keep him in Turin, Nedved admits that he is tempted to prolong his distinguished career.

"I'm pleased that they want to keep me, but I will be 36 soon and I must think about what is the right thing to do," he said.

"For now I am concentrating on the remainder of the season, then, in the next few weeks I will make a definitive decision.

Nedved's current deal is due to expire on 30th June, but having previously stated his desire to play in the UEFA Champions League again, and with Juventus set to enter the qualifying stages of next season's competition, he may yet be persuaded to stay for another year

He must stay for at least one more season, Czech wouldn't want to miss him for the Euro 2008 and he is Juve's only accomplished left winger/midfielder

Finally an intelligent person on the forum Very Happy

Although the signing are all out of reach (except for Metzelder).

In so far:

-Mellberg
-Amauri (98%)
-Sebastian Giovinco (Back from loan)
-De Ceglie

Players I would like:

Schweinsteiger (Bayern)
Lahm (Bayern)
Sagnol (Bayern)
Grosso (Lyon)
Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
Evra (United)

I don't think the first 2 are coming to Juve, although the rest have a good chance.

No way will Lampard leave for a lesser side. If he goes, it's to Mourinho. Evra won't move.

I'd be happy if Schweinsteiger or Sagnol went to Juve. Both have played a horrible season, especially Schweinsteiger. You can have him for free. For Sagnol, he's been injured for a long time so maybe he can do better next season but his constant hustle for a change abroad is really annoying. If he wants to leave, why not just let him go. He hasn't really helped the team this season. But it's much more probable that he goes to Milan, hopefully in exchange for Gattuso.

There have been rumors about Schweinsteiger and Juve but I don't think they're true. I doubt that he really wants do leave and I doubt even more that Juve want him, if they watched any of his games this season. Good luck though. I've always liked him (except for this year, seems to be a bit too much self-assured) and I think a change might help him in his development. I hope Juve sign him, he can only change for the better.

I'd like Schweinsteiger at Liverpool, but then i haven't really seen him this season. It'd be more based on earlier.

Well he's (or has become) really slow for a winger, really weak in the defense, he often seems unmotivated.
He just takes all the speed from our play. It's cruel to watch him. Nothing compared to 2004 or 2005 when he played really well and was fun to watch. I think that he really needs a change because he feels to save about his position. He has to fight for it.
Maybe he'll improve when Hitzfeld leaves after this season. I believe that Schweinsteiger was one of his favourites and he got his chances over and over, despite of all his horrible performances.

I heard the Evra rumor some time ago, and Juventus are not a lesser side than Chelsea. Maybe on the paper Chelsea is bigger, but we'll see how it goes in the CL next season. Rainieri was the one who brought Lampard to Chelsea and with Franks mother you know what, he might want to start from anew.

Chelsea are in the upper echelon of football teams along with Inter, AC, Barca, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Real.

Juventus are a second tier team.

To be honest i wouldn't rank Chelsea amongst those.

Successful history? No.
Large fanbase? No.
Unlimited funds? Sure.

Ability-wise they're up there with the best, but not in stature.

Juventus are a much, much, much, MUCH bigger club than Chelsea. Chelsea are currently stronger, but they are leagues apart in terms of stature.

Fans of other big clubs can throw their snobbery all they want but it doesn't matter. Shevchenko left Milan for Chelsea, Ballack picked them over Real. They won two of the last three EPL's and are in the CL final this year. Add to that that they have more spending power than anyone else and they belong right now amongst that list.

The only reason Liverpool make it is because the pull it out in the Champions League.

Who cares about stature. Right now if a player has a straight choice between Juventus and Chelsea he's picking Chelsea time after time and that is what matters, not how many titles they won in the past not how much prestige the club has. Else people would actually care about PSG, Ajax, Nottingham Forrest and other ex-big teams.

Why would they pick Chelsea over and over?

Why they won't pick Chelsea:

1. The players' egos are too big
2. Their president is Russian and runs the team as he pleases (kinda like Shinawatra & Sven)
3. They have no history whatsoever without Mourinho
4. Never won a CL title
5. Lost the title twice in a row (you've gotta believe United are going to win against lowly Wigan)

Example: Amauri chose Juve over Chelsea
