Capello's England Objective - Unrealistic?

So the FA have set Capello the objective of getting England to at least the semi-finals at one of the next two major tournaments. Bearing in mind that England have failed to reach the last four of a major tournament since Euro 96, are the FA setting Capello an unrealistic target?

Let’s take a look at the history of England’s manager:

Walter Winterbottom 1946-1962 England’s first manager, took them to 4 World Cups
Matches: 139 Win %: 56.11

Alf Ramsey 1963-1974 Former England captain who went on to guide England to their finest hour in 1966.
Matches: 113 Win %: 61.06

Joe Mercer 1974 Caretaker Manager took charge for only seven games, winning the British Championship and losing only once.
Matches: 7 Win %: 42.85

Don Revie 1974-1977 Lost key players, quit controversially to coach the United Arab Emirates.
Matches: 29 Win %: 48.27

Ron Greenwood 1977-1982 Former West Ham idol who led England to the 1982 World Cup finals - their first in 12 years.

Bobby Robson 1982-1990 Led England to the World Cup semi-finals, in 1990, losing only on penalties to Germany.

Graham Taylor 1990-1993 Failed to qualify for the 1994 World Cup finals.

Terry Venables 1994-1996 Guided England to the semi-finals of Euro 96 before another penalty shoot-out failure against Germany.

Glenn Hoddle 1996-1999 Was sacked following controversial comments about the disabled. His record however was pretty good.

Howard Wilkinson 1999 and 2000 Technical director who had two one-game spells as caretaker after Hoddle and Keegan.

Kevin Keegan 1999-2000 Former England player - was tactically naive and had a poor record.

Peter Taylor 2000 Gave David Beckham the captaincy for the first time in his only game as caretaker. Proved to be a great decision.

Sven-Goran Eriksson 2001-2006 First foreign coach who led England to the World Cup quarter-finals in 2002 and 2006. Had a very good record as England manager, however was not so good off the field.

Steve McClaren 2006-2007 Poor appointment, led to England wasting the chance to reach Euro 2008.
