Everton have approached Valencia about a deal for their Spain international winger Joaquin, but they face competition for his signature from Roma. (Football365.com, 1322 BST)

I doubt someone of joaquin's stature and ability will sign for Everton he would be more suited to roma or possibly Liverpool.....

Still gossip like this makes me nervous as how are Everton becoming linked to players of this calibre

No disrespect Evertonians

Seems unlikely although 5th place twice in a row is no embaressment. Uefa Cup football too.

true Everton are a good side but with Spurs and aston villa and even portmouth getting better will Everton be able to match those clubs........

its just that joaquin even though he has had an indifferent spell with valencia has the ability speed and footballing brain to be a very dangerous player.....

therefore because i am selfish i dont want him to sign for Everton.....

oh and jono stop being so greedy you already have modric, joaquin is no interset to your club i feel he is best suited to Liverpool

Rumour has it that he could only cost a side as little as £7m because of Valencia's financial situation.

Would be an excellent signing for both Spurs (as replacement for Lennon) and Everton. Both sides need much more in midfield and a winger of his capabilities would aid either no end.

I wouldn't mind him joining Everton... would keep the competition very strong from teams below. Although i can't foresee him coming to England altogether.

Well on paper a number of teams are better than Everton. Those you mentioned plus Man City and even Newcastle but Everon out perform them every year so who knows. Eventually foreign players will start taking note that Everton are doing well year after year and start wanting to come. Plus Arteta is already there so we'll see.

Speaking of which, isn't Arteta supposed to be leaving this summer? Or there was a fear that he would anyway.

Arteta is perfect for Everton. He suits to big fish small pond role in my opinion. Moreover Everton is a club that is going places. With maybe a £20-30m investment they could break top 4 and win the Uefa Cup. They were close this and last year on Arsenal and Liverpool.

Hahaha, Joaquin will never go to Everton.

I want him at Liverpool, so if we went knocking for him, with our place in the Champions League, and our Spanish players and manager, he'd surely choose us over them.

No disrespect to Everton.

Etxeberria is consistantly decent aside from a brilliant season a four years ago. Yeste is the Bilbao man who is amazing for thirty minutes a season.
