well we beat Spurs 4-1. It doesnt mean anything. We got beat 6-0 when we didnt have a manager and by the team SAF called his best ever team. Dosnt mean the Everton and Newcastle game will be high scoring. could be but i doubt it |

Here's another one.
Ronaldo scored 4 goals against the top 4 teams 2 against Everton ,1 against 10 man Liverpool and 1 against Arsenal in a game where he was non existent 95 % of the time. Add man city to that as another big match and the stat stays the same. In perspective , for three seasons Henry was the leading scorer and had 20 odd assists. Those are the numbers that make true legends and add the fact that Henry did it against the Man U's The Chelsea's and the Liverpool's and Spurs, pretty much makes Ronaldo's record look quite ordinary. That's why i don't agree with him being the best player in the league when other players are consistently effective regardless of opponent. |

Your obsessive anti-Ronaldo stance is almost as bad as my obsessive anti-Liverpool stance. |

:O go buy a goal keeper. |

4 goals against the top 4 is a record of 1 in 2. That's pretty good.
Nice one specnur, you've failed to make Ronaldo look bad. As for comparing him to Henry - did Henry ever score 40 goals in a single season? I don't remember him doing so, and he's a striker! |

5 years ago there used to be a lot more balance in the EPL, and Henry bagged 30 goals for 5 seasons in a row for Arsenal. Henry was better than Ronaldo. |

henry was better than ronaldo but with two more seasons like he has had you have got to say that he will be on his way to being the best premier league player...

Henry has also on top of that provided lots of assists, but I don't think he is the best Barclays player ever.

who, been better you could make an arguement for keane and shearer

you can't compare a midfielder with a striker.. it's not a midfielder's job to score goals.. and just incase you forget.. even if he doesn't score sometimes.. he always assists others to do it instead.. |

I agree with your fist line there. But I dunno about the assists. He doesn't always assist other like you say. For a midfielder(Winger) his assist stat is not upto the mark. But of course he's scored a lot of goals and people only just see that and not his all round play. I'll say this though. He deserves the awards he got this season and he maybe the best player this season, but he's not a better player than Henry(When he played for Arsenal and not now)... He has age on his side and he can mature and develop and become one of the greatest player if not the greatest player... But we'll have to wait to see that... |

Henry had better moments but he wasn't as relentlessly efficient as Ronaldo has been this season.
What? Who is better? |

I'm not sure if you agree with me, but here are a list of great players in my opinion:
(FW) Alan Shearer - The Leagues all time top scorer with 260 goals, is the only player to have scored 100 goals for 2 Premier League clubs, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United. Scored 34 times in Blackburn's title winning season of 94-95, the only club honours he was to win. Moved on to his home town club Newcastle for 15 million pounds, a world record at the time. Scored 206 goals for Newcastle, a club record, before retiring in 2006 (MF) Paul Scholes - The quiet man of the Manchester United midfield for the last decade, Scholes has been the creative genius behind many title winning seasons at United. While Beckham and Giggs may have taken the limelight the influence of Scholes can not be underestimated. Described as the one of the best finishers he as ever seen by his manager, Sir Alex, Scholes has weighed in with important goals throughout his United career. Has sorely been missed by England since his retirement at 29 to prolong his United career. (GK) Peter Schmeichel - The dominant Danish keeper will no doubt top any list of great Premier League keepers. Ended Sir Alex's search for a top class shot stopper when he signed from Brondby in '92 for 530 000 pounds, a figure Alex Ferguson described as the bargain of the century. He holds the record for the best games to clean sheet ratio in the Premier League with 42%. |

There is a case to be made for Schmeichel for sure but Henry was better than Shearer and Scholes.
