According to evolutionary psychologists, hate is a reaction to people whose interests consistently conflict with one's own. People whose behavior threatens one's own survival interests are to be hated, while people whose behavior enhances one's survival prospects are to be liked or even loved (as in the case of offspring and other genetic kin).

Yes she also hates Everton. I too reminded her that "hate" was a very strong word. Laughing

well using the BBC predicter thing if Man Utd beat Wigan 1-0 it will mean Chelsea would have to beat Bolton 18-0 to nick the title from Man Utd .... Laughing I dont think Anelka , Drogba , Ballack and Co have that amount of goals in them for one game ... Wink

I would love Man Utd to draw and Chelsea to win ....it looks like the way Chelsea play though is gonna cost them the title .. ie ...lack of goals ..

Now that would be possible if it was Chelsea v Derby Wink

I do respect what a great side they have been though and still are ....and what a legend Sir Alex Ferguson has been to them ....unbelievable success he has brought to the club .

But also i think it is just natural for a rival supporter to want someone else to win the title rather than one of your main enemy teams ...so to speak .. If it were Tottenham and Man Utd going for the title i would wish Man Utd to win ..

Well said conner.......some common sense and honesty at last.

Yep! very well said conner. Honesty, you can't beat it.

I'm just standing up for my team. If you are going to post up nonsense like that then it will draw my comment. I expect that sort of rubbish from the majority of punters on here but not from someone like yourself.

nonsense?

i simply said i would like to see ferguson go into a rage over his team losing the title to a refereeing decision. i would enjoy that very much. childish? if you say so. jealous and bitter? absolutely not. i assume you are referring to saturdays game. i couldnt care less about it mate. why would i be jealous of Man United? my club are not in their league in terms of triophies but is that the be all and end all? many of your fans are priced out of going and your ground is nothing more than a tourist attraction now. the fans are from all over the country and indeed the world and you have nothing in common with them. give me my local club with local people any day of the week.

the hilarious irony of you, a Man United fan, instructing anyone to learn to lose with grace and dignity raised a laugh so thanks for that. im sure that wasnt lost on you.

i dont dislike Man United, i dislike arrogant sets of fans, Man United, Arsenal, Spurs all have a huge arrogance about their support. (to name but a few). i also dislike ferguson and enjoy his pathetic rants just a bit more than i enjoy his graham norton style celebrations. it would amuse me highly if he lost the plot over his team losing out to a dodgy decision after all the 'luck' they have had over the years in terms of decisions.

i would prefer Chelsea to win the double purely because of the hammering avram grant has received from all angles and yet has maintained his dignity and earned my respect.

is that bitter and jealous? i think not. if anything i would feel bitter and jealous towards west london rivals Chelsea who, before abramovich, were a team very similar to mine. however i like to think im better than that.

there are other reasons that people dislike other clubs than jealousy etc. dont be so narrow minded to always put it down to that. the tunnel vision of some fans baffles me at times.

You are very perceptive Steely and a very good attempt at trying to justify your childish comment. I wonder if you can explain, in your eloquent way, why Sir Alex Ferguson deserves to be SO disliked by you. He isn't a child molester, a notorious killer or terrorist. He is ONLY a football club manager and ALWAYS tries to do what is best for his club, his team. Outside of football, he is just an ordinary human being, and many people hold him in high esteem, that know him personally. He is well liked by the majority of football managers in the EPL and world-wide, and even your own manager has a fairly close and friendly relationship with him.

I don't believe for one moment that you don't care about the recent 4-1 result at Old Trafford. All true fans care about every game their team plays, even meaningless friendlies.

The comment posted by conner more honestly reflects the true feelings of rival fans. Despite your comment to the contrary I still believe that many of the anti-ManUtd comments posted on here are borne out of jealousy and resentment of Uniteds phenomenal success.

Laughing Laughing

what are you talking about!? i merely said i disliked him, i never said i hated him or anything stronger than that. you are wildly exaggerting in order to give your argument more weight when there is really no need. i dislike the bloke because of his hypocrisy, arrogance and his pig-headedness. i dont hate the bloke so calm yourself down, he is some way off of Ian Huntley's league for now Wink im not going to like him because Curbishley does! i couldnt care less what others make of him. i have formed my own judgement of him from my years of following football. of course i dont know him personally, neither do you. however we are both allowed an opinion on the bloke. becuase mine is negative and indeed different to yours it does not make mine any less valid or in need of justification.

we could have lost that game 8-0. it means nothing. ive seen countless capitalations at the hands of Man United. i was at Old Trafford for the 6-0 defeat in the season we went down (to name one that sticks in my mind) i was expecting a heavy defeat, i was more suprised we scored than letting in 4 goals. the vast majority of West Ham fans had the same feeling and in the ground it was more of a sarcastic party atmosphere with people just messing around and having a laugh rather than desperately waiting for a goal or genuine optimism before or during the game. i merely want this season over with and as such results dont mean anything to me. i just want our young players such as Sears and Tomkins to gain experience and playing time. to me, at this moment in time, that is more important than the result.

Man United are not West Ham's rivals though in a football sense are they. its perfectly understandable that an Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool fan may have an issue with jealousy. but to suggest every opposing fan suffers from this is narrow minded and just plain stupid in my opinion. Man United could have won every league and cup going and it would have no bearing on how i treat them as a club. its how the club, its manager, players and fans conduct themselves that has an influence on how i view a particular club.

If you read my post again you will see I never used the word HATE either, I said dislike, so you are wrong to suggest I am wildly exaggerating. It doesn't matter what I say about Sir Alex Ferguson I know I will never be able to influence your deeply formed opinion of him, after all, he has been in football a long long time and has rival fans have had plenty of time, year on year, to convince themselves that he his the anti-Christ. I'm sure that you are equally guilty of exhibiting those same failings that you claim Sir Alex is guilty of, hypocrisy, arrogance and pig-headedness, I know that I am capable of exhibiting ALL of those traits from time to time. I'm quite sure you have exhibited some of that behaviour on this forum.

You remain unconvincing with your arguments regarding the game meaning nothing to West Ham and their fans. I think we should leave it at that.

With regard to jealousy and resentment, I accept what you say about yourself, and retract any comments aimed at you personally on that issue.

As an aside. One thing I am not is arrogant. Also, I believe in balanced reasoned argument and I will hold my hand up and say I am wrong if someone is able to clearly show that is the case. I am not afraid to be in the minority and I will argue the toss against everyone on this thread if need be, without losing my cool.

why would he wish to 'shoo me away' browntongue?

we had a decent discussion that ended up being resolved amicably.

look at you carrying on with your usual digs left, right and centre. you think you are so clever dont you? if my dad acted in the way you do i would be ashamed. it wouldnt be so bad if you had an ounce of intellect on any given subject other than the workings of the latest Intel Pentium 3 Processor but instead you drone on and on raping and pillaging your way through countless threads in countless sections while offering nothing in the way of input whatsoever. its no wonder you are only fit do drive a little cart putting bottles on people's doorsteps.

what a pathetic existance you have. your kid probably has more about her in the way of maturity than you. would you behave like this at the pub or to people's faces? i highly doubt it. so why act like this on here? you must have something severly lacking in your life to constantly keep on with this pathetic 'one-upmanship' that you persist with. its obvious nothing will be done about you as your c*ck is wedged firmly up twmcat's arse.

stick to entertaining your little arselicking clique in the lounge with your cheap sexual innuendo one liners and 9 year old style gags. nobody in this section gives a flying f*ck about anything you have to say.

you are a pathetic individual and id love to see you behave like this to somebody's face. you'd be either laughed out of the building or thrown out of the building via the window.

I'll go for a win for both Manchester United and Chelsea so i think Manchester United will win the title. But it's possible that one of the two teams can have a failure because of the pressure.

hardly a trap was it.

it was blatantly obvious what you were doing to anybody over the age of 4.

you are an exception. i make different rules for you.

all you have done is make yourself appear even more pathetic which i thought would be impossible so well done. the crap rumbles on.

i refuse to continually ignore you and fail to see why i should. if you continue to aim posts my way then i will continue to reply. its fine with me, i have no qualms with it. its not up to me to ring the changes so i dont care.

keep on digging scouse. you may impress the teens or any manner of idiots but you dont impress anybody with an ounce of intellect or common sense. i do wonder how your life would be without a PC. one word springs to mind.. empty.

try and get yourself a life.

the forum is f*cked beyond repair and that is largely down to people like you so congratulations on that. im sure you are proud of your achievements given your mentality.

and well done to the moderators for allowing this to happen.

what a complete joke.

hold on i missed this edited part as i was too busy replying....

i shall reply to whatever i want to. especially something that is aimed at me. i couldnt care less what anybody else says. this is a public forum and i shall post wherever i want. if somebody aims something my way i would be a mug to let it slide. i will stick by that until the day i get banned. although it would be astonishing if that day came before your banning.

make a dick of me? deary me. is there any end to your mindless stupidity? who else have i argued with and what thread? any other discussion i may have had is purely related to the topic at hand. is that not the whole purpose of a forum?

i argue with you because you continually dig me out then cower and complain via PM's when i reply back to you like the coward that you are.

back on topic? i wonder who took this off topic once again?

do you have any genuine mates? even crabhead seems to treat you with contempt.

Seems like Carvalho is a doubt for the match after him limping out during the previous match.

Also Rijkaard is being tipped to replace Grant it seems...

Quote:

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho faces a race to be fit in time for their crucial game against Bolton on Sunday.

Carvalho limped out of their victory over Newcastle on Monday afternoon after twice falling heavily on his back.

The Portuguese international underwent intensive treatment on the injury on Tuesday and is desperate to be fit in time to face Wanderers at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea know that a result which betters Manchester United's on the final day of the season will earn them the title.

Carvalho has become a vital member of the side and has not been on the losing side in the last 42 league games he had played in.

It is a run that stretches back to Chelsea's away defeat at Tottenham in November 2006.

Striker Salomon Kalou is also struggling with an ankle injury but he should be fit in time.

But the future of coach Avram Grant has once again came under spotlight, with Barcelona's Frank Rijkaard tipped, once more, to replace him at the end of the season.

This time the speculation over Grant's future was sparked by comments from the Israeli's close friend - Portsmouth player Richard Hughes.

Hughes claimed that Grant would be happy to move aside and let Rijkaard take over even though he has guided Chelsea to the final of the Champions League and to the brink of winning the domestic league crown.

Hughes insisted: "This will take place with Avram's blessing. He is a modest guy who does not particularly like being in the limelight.

"He'd be happy to revert to the role where he acts as a link between the coaching staff and the board.

"He is not in it for personal glory and could go about his business outside of the limelight."

Hughes became close friends with Grant while he was director of football at Pompey and believes the Israeli will move upstairs even if he completes an historic double. Rijkaard is set to quit the Nou Camp at the end of this campaign having lost the title to Real Madrid. But despite the speculation, Chelsea continue to insist that Grant will remain in charge of the side next season.

Meanwhile, England left-back Ashley Cole, rested for their win over Newcastle on Monday, believes Bolton will not make it easy for them.

"Bolton will be coming to the Bridge wanting to win whether they are safe or not, we'll be so focused and determined to beat them," said Cole.

"We have a lot of big players with big hearts and everyone wants to win. We have to win because it would be a killer if Manchester United got a draw and we didn't get a result."

I see that SAF has been having a dig at the Bolton players this morning for going out on the razz this week to celebrate the fact that they have retained Premiership status, whereas Wigan are remaining focussed on the important game this week-end against United. I must admit it does seem to be a tad unprofessional of Bolton to be celebrating before the season is over. No doubt Steely will be amused by SAF's comments.

You are right conner there is a goal difference of 11 and 3 points between Bolton and Reading. There would need to be a swing in Readings favour of 11 goals which is as unlikely as Chelsea winning the title on goal difference over United.

United have done the business all season and deserve it although at times you don't get what you deserve but hopefully they will again.
