Its been about 15 years now since the league was set up, theres been plenty of obvious benefits such as increased football quality, better facilities an just better all round professionalism. One criticism however, especially in the past 5 years is that the real fans are being priced out of following their teams and football stadiums are becoming more like tourist attractions full of day trippers. This in turn has meant that most stadiums are lifeless and lack passion on match days.

Theres two sides to the arguement so discuss..

the premierhisp has been great for armchair fans, statto's and women. that is all.

the ordinary football fan is all but dead. football is no longer exclusive to the people and big businesses have moved in raping and pillaging their way through the sport and turned it into a passionless soulless load of crap where the rich just get richer and the poor get poorer.

clubs from lower leagues will forever remain that. lower league. the distribution of wealth is staggering in comparison to the championship and even the 'parachute' payments are a further disgrace to the other teams.

crowds used to be passionate, loud and above all witty with countless original songs behind produced both in support of their team and in 'attack' of the opposition fans and players. now you just get generic chants of 'easy' and other such pathetic unimaginative crap. fans are forced to remain seated throughout the game with threats of criminal record if you do not comply and heaven forbid you utter a swear word. commiting such a crime will lead to you being ejected in many venues so your 50 pound ticket was for nothing.

the players and managers have very little in the way of personality and utter generic answers to unimaginative generic questions.

every record is 'premiership' record as though football never existed before this league was thought up.

i could go on and on but its too early for a rant so i will leave it at that for now.

Yeah Id basically agree with that, obviously I dont get to many Premiership games but from what I have been to there really is something missing. Even compared to this country where the vast majority of people are glory hunters and ignore their local teams, you still get more passion from the fans over here. I have a friend who was at a Man Utd game earlier in the season and he was threatened with being thrown out of the stadium if he didnt sit down and keep his voice down.

The atmosphere and passion is totally gone from most stadiums, Old Trafford is like a library most of the time, Stamford Bridge and the Emirates are just as bad and most fans seem to leave games - especially at Arsenal - about 10 minutes before the end, even if the team's winning. Real fans can't get tickets anymore and are replaced by a load of posh corporate 'fans' that sit there chatting to each other and enjoying their champagne instead of supporting their team. Its just all about money and the clubs couldnt give a sh!t about the fans.

As well as that, players are now totally protected and act as if theyre better than the rest of us, there was a time when fans could go and have a drink with the players after games. It still happens around here where you can freely chat to the players but the closest most fans get to players now is signing an autograph from behind a fence and a wall of police.

Its been great for armchair fans and people abroad with live games every weekend but the real fans are being forced away and made more and more distant from their clubs. Its not going to change any time soon either with all these foreign owners and their sole aims of making as much money as possible
