Well as i said above, they only just won te league and they might not win the CL. I dont know which is the best but i know that this one isn't. If it was they would have won the league much easier. Thats all i can say because i am too young to have watched and judged his early team.

Can you think of a United team that would have won this league any easier? Your forgetting that back in the early to mid 90's, the opposition was not in the same league as this Chelsea team. I personally don't think the team of 99 would have had the quality to win this league - but it is indeed a different era, so it is all ifs and buts.

This is the squad that did the treble, for some reason Schmeichel is missing...he should be there too.

Personally, I prefer the squad of '99.

They had that in-built never-say-die attitude which never saw them give up.
Mentally they were in a different league - todays squad is good, but not as awe-inspiring in my view but Ronaldo's the notable exception.

Yes we had a very good season in 1999 but everyone is making them out to be superhero's.

This is the main reason I have my doubts about the greats of the past such as Best. Everyone forgets their bad games, boring games, lucky games and so on... All that gets remembered is the good times.

What if we hadn't scored those 2 goals in the final?

I don't mean to take anything away from them but this current team is better.

And people forget that 1999 treble winning team only won the league by 1 point - hardly easy! It was actually Arsenal's loss to Leeds that gifted us that trophy. Don't want to take anything away from the lads of 99, however it could easily have been a disasterous season if Arsenal hadn't bottled it (again) and Bayern had held out for the win in the final. I believe United were better in the 99-00 season with many of the same players.

Agreed. I think we have had 2 or 3 better Premiership teams than the one of 1999.

And Matt Busby's successful 1968 European Cup winning team against Benfica at Wembley.

4-1 to United after extra time and Bobby Charlton scoring with a terrific header (unusual for him). Denis Law didn't play, he was injured.

Stepney

Brennan Dunne

Crerand Foulkes Stiles

Best Kidd Charlton Sadler Aston

This team is by far better than the 1999 team. The standards of football in general especially the EPL is much much higher. That team at their peak from 1999 would never win the league were they to play now.

Just looking at our whole squad in today's paper the worst player I picked out was probably Silvestre.

We don't have a bad player in the squad.

The same can't be said for the team of 99. Could even pick out 2 or 3 for the CL winning starting lineup.

Jonathan Greening, Blomqvist, May... Brown and P Nev (at the time).

True - but then maybe it was an even better achievement then as the players were not of the same calibre?

I just personally preferred the way that team played, the double strike partnerships of Sheringham (probably the most intelligent player of the past decade) & Solskjaer, and Yorke & Cole, Keane, Scholes marshalling the midfield, Beckham arguably in his prime, David May being ginger (no forget that one) and Schmeichel pulling off some super stops.

I'm not arguing as such, its just a personal preference - I've yet to be won over by the likes of Anderson and Nani, yes there hair does look everso lovely but give me the Class of '99 anytime.

I can see by your loser name that you aren't very mature mentally. I don't think you will get much of a response to your posts unless you have something interesting to add to the football discussions on this excellent forum. The childish 'Liverpool are better than Manchester United' discussions have already been done to death on here and most people are bored of it. You need to make a name for yourself with some good objective posts and then, MAYBE, your comments may get some respect and a serious response.
