It would have been impossible really to look past Ronaldo's supreme goal scoring form, so yes he thoroughly deserves to be named Player of the Season.
As for Fergie, well we have all debated this to death in the other topic. Regardless of how difficult people think his job is, you have to think back just a few seasons ago where fans, including many so-called United fans, were calling for his head. People were writing him off, and saying he had lost the plot. I can understand opposing fans having that point of view, but to hear your own fans turning against a man who has done so much for the club is an absolute disgrace. So for him to have built another young squad, with bags of ability, and bags of talent - you have to give him some credit.
You can talk about money all you want, the fact of the matter is
Chelsea have bags more to spend. Fergie has tried to get the right mix of foreign players and British players which is something I think more managers should do however unfortunately these players do cost more (Carrick, Hargreaves).
I would love to see more youth coming through the ranks and have another era like the 90's, but unfortunately times have changed, and the owners need immediate success.
Chelsea raised the bar when Mourinho was at the helm, and it has forced other managers around
Chelsea to up their game - so this is a great achievement in a new era of football.
We could add arguments for quite a few managers, including Wenger. Yes Wenger's boys bottled it towards the end of the season; however they put up a fantastic fight right to the final few weeks - who would have expected that before the season started? Very few people that's who! So that was in my opinion a positive season for
Arsenal even though they went without and silverware once again.
So in conclusion, and to prevent this rant going off on a tangent, Fergie deserves the award.
