I think it's the same point that was being made over the possible Barry signing. If Liverpool want to compete for number one spot in the league then they need to sign WORLD class players. Neither Barry, nor Milner can be considered to be world class players.

Diane keen on Toon switch:

Quote:

Paris St Germain forward Amara Diane admits he would jump at the chance to join Newcastle if the two clubs were to reach an agreement on his transfer.

Magpies boss Kevin Keegan was a spectator at the Parc des Princes last Saturday as PSG drew 1-1 with St Etienne in Ligue 1.

Diane, who started that match, claims the two clubs have held talks over his future.

"I know that there is contact between the two clubs," said the Ivory Coast international.

"If they come to an agreement, I would go to Newcastle."

Diane is a big fan of Keegan, who returned to Newcastle in January for a second spell as manager.

"Keegan is a coach that makes you dream," said Diane, who joined PSG from Strasbourg in the summer of 2006.

"His team play attacking football, and playing in England would be a great opportunity for me.

"To play with Michael Owen would be great and there is also Obafemi Martins, who is a quality striker.

"The Premier League is very attractive and several of my Ivorian friends play there, so I would be in good company."

Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Emmanuel Eboue and Kolo Toure are among the other Ivory Coast internationals who play in the Premier League.

Apparently J-League club JEF United Chiba are trying to lure Owen over to the J-League.

N'Zogbia denies quit talk:

Quote:

N'Zogbia said: "I am happy at Newcastle United and, to tell the truth, I have always been.

"At the moment, all I am concentrating on in playing for the French Under-21 squad in Sweden at the end of this month and then, like the rest of the Newcastle squad, looking at what players we are going to get in the close season."

He said: "I have been at Newcastle since I was 17 and I have never been involved in a fight with anyone.

"And why would I pick a fight with Abdoulaye Faye? Not only is he a friend of mine, but he is also a little bit bigger than me." Laughing

Meanwhile, Newcastle were not commenting on reports today that former England caretaker manager Peter Taylor is being lined up for a coaching job on Tyneside.

It is understood Taylor is being considered for a key role working with the club's emerging stars.

IMO N'Zogbia is a very talented player and he's good enough for Newcastle...

I hope we keep him because he is a good player. During this season it has always been said that he is unhappy at the club. Therefore, the fans thought that we would be losing him. Not because he isnt good enough but because he was not happy. Im glad hes came out and said this and hopefully he will stay now.

From nufc.com

Quote:
We understand that United were represented in the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadium on Saturday, as Stuttgart ended their season with 2-2 draw at home to Bielefeld.

The object of our interest is claimed to be the home side's 22 year-old forward Mario Gomez.

And Gomez was on target from the penaty spot as Stuttgart drew 2-2 and claimed an Intertoto spot.

Gomez signed a new five year deal at Stuttgart last summer in the wake of their league title success and has scored 28 goals in 32 club appearances this season.

He's also expected to be an automatic starter for the German national side in Euro 2008 after having won nine senior caps to date and scored six times.

I dont watch much German football but he sounds good. Does anyone know anything about him?

Gomez is class. I doubt he would go to Newcastle. He could go to a team even like Man United

Newcastle could be set to win the race to sign highly-rated Turkish winger Arda Turan.

Magpies boss Kevin Keegan is understood to be on the lookout for replacements for Damien Duff and Emre, who both look set to leave St James' Park this summer.

And Keegan is thought to be in pole position to see off competition from the likes of Middlesbrough and Tottenham to secure the signature of the £11million-rated Galatasaray star.

Turan's agent Ahmet Bulut has confirmed that one club has shown an interest in the two-footed 21-year-old.

"One club is talking to Galatasaray and asking them to name their price," Turan said in the Sunday Sun.

"If Galatasaray's request is met, the transfer can happen."

From sky sports

I havnt even heard of him so im guessing since he is good with both his feet he must be pretty decent.

Big rev could maybe say a bit about him

Newcastle want to offload Emre to Galatasaray and sign left winger Arda Turan from the Turkish club, while they are also eyeing Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez. (The Daily Star)

The Tyneside outfit are also ready to tempt Rangers with a £7m offer for defender Carlos Cuellar. (The Sun)

-----

Cany anyone shed some light on Turan, Gomez or Cuellar? Don't get to see any of the Footy from their leagues...

Emre leaving would be a bit of a shame - he was the only one with a bit of creativity in the midfield except for Zogs. If the signing of Turan went through that would probably mean the end for Zogs or Duff...

Keeegan has said he is not interested in Arda Turan.

Gomez has a great goal scoring record this season. People from our club went to watch Stuttgart's last game and the press are just guessin that it is because of him. I think other/better teams would be interested in him if we had a bid accepted.

Dont know much about Carlos Cuellar, i just hope hes better then the last defender we got from rangers. I dont know if it is true. The Sun are not very reliable IMO.

Well i dont know the facts behind it but Dennis Wise was certainly in the stands to watch the UEFA cup final, whether he was there to see Cuellar is debatable but i reckon he could do a job in the premiership, hes a good no-nonsense centerback, very consistant aswell. I hop he stays at Rangers though, players like him boost the profile of the SPL.

Cuellar says he wants to play Champions League football. So i guess that takes Newcastle out of the running for him?

If he's bent on playing in the Champions League he'll either stay at Rangers or move back to Spain i reckon.

Would love to see him join Newcastle though. Him and Taylor would make a sturdy partnership...
