Good. For a minute there it seemed this thread was an English vs Welsh thread and I wanted to tak about the cup final between Pompey of England and Caaaaaadif of Wales.
Its been a good year for the FA cup. Bringing all that magic back. Any team can get there now...even get into Europe, which is a great incentive. Pompey have a ready made team to take on Europe which will only get better through one or two signings. |

do you reckon its likely to be like this again in the years to come though?
i mean in reality Portsmouth were lucky to go through against Man United and probably didnt deserve to beat them, not that i would begrudge them this fantastic achievement. is it likely to inspire other teams to push on and go for the cup a bit more or merely encourage the big boys to kick back into gear for an end of season finale? |

If you look at Portsmouth vs Cardiff/vs. Man Utd/vs Chelsea/vs Accrington Stanley, they do well and most times win by the same score. 1-0/2-1 etc. Theyre not the type of team to hammer the weaker teams and just scrape it against the better teams, they just win the same way every time.
They dont say "Oh we are better than 80% of teams in this division, so beat them all by 3-0 every time because we are better" but more like "We are playing x/y team, so lets just concentrate on how to beat them!" Or as the Arsenal lot used to say... 1-0 to the Pompey! |

it would be great if there were more of these `shock` finals . The truth is though next year will probably revert back to the usual top teams ....Man Utd , Chelsea , Arsenal , Liverpool fighting it out for a place at Wembley .
What this season has shown i think that the big boys can no longer underestimate the smaller teams or expect to go through .....they will have to play well to get through . What Barnsley did to Liverpool and Chelsea ..well deserved victories ....may show other small clubs that dreams can come true ....no one is unbeatable .. So who would have predicted the next Charity Shield match to be between Man Utd and Portsmouth .. |

it seems unlikely that any club from outside will ever win the FA Cup again what with such a gap between premiership and championship.
Sir Trevor Brooking's instinctive diving header has put him in FA Cup folklore |

on the contrary i have heard of instances of Cardiff fans spitting, throwing beer at, and urinating over the statue of Bobby Moore at Wembley to name but a few instances of them 'making the most of the day'. it wasnt as widespread as it were in the Barnsley game but it still happened, perhaps the novelty never wore off? this element of the cardiff support needs eliminating at all costs. each time i have encountered a cardiff fan they always seem to be scum of the highest order. i think its time the decent fans stuck their neck out and didnt allow these dregs of society to use the name of their club to peddel their thuggish ways. in my time going to football i would put Cardiff down in the gutter with Millwall going on the sights i have seen. it will take a lot for them to change their ways... thats if they even want to. *this is not a personal attack to any welsh people or cardiff city football club as a whole* |

I understand where you are coming from Steely, i got to games quite regularly around one every month and the behavior is usually fine. Then when Cardiff play the big teams or rival teams these people turn up none of them wearing replica shirts, well none of them wearing official replica shirts and they cause trouble, they only turn up against the big clubs like when Spurs played them and when they played Arsenal, or the Bristol City game. Id of said they probably get about 50-100 people turning up to these games just to cause trouble, you look around when they play the teams like Colchester, Scunthorpe etc and they are these people are nowhere to be seen. If Cardiff made the Premiership id hope there would be less violence as the people causing the violence i dont think would be able to afford to get a season ticket and id expect it to be sold out every game. But yes many of the Cardiff fans are amongst the scummiest in Britain, but alot of them are just regular folk getting a bad reputation because of these clowns. |

you just have to type in google "cardiff city fans are scum " and check the second line "Bobs Board" , reports of Cardiff fans behaving disgustingly ..
No major trouble at the Final though ...only five arrests according to police .... |

thats because the majority of the grief was away from the ground. the pubs stretching up from baker street in the city up to wembley have been well and truly abused by them.
urine all over the pub floors and bar (not the toilets), smashed glass everywhere, ceiling damage from people standing on tables and whacking the ceiling for fun as well as the endearing bit of fun involving hurling whole pints of beer at the ceiling and revelling in the rainfall of beer and glass. windows were damaged, innocent workers, pedestrians and citizens were abused. anti english drivel was a constant and for some reason hardly any of this, if at all, was reported. i thank heavens that they did not win and get into europe. imagine these idiots in Istanbul, Moscow and the like. we could have found ourselves banned from Europe over the actions of a bunch of chavvy stone island/burberry clad welshman. |

well ....you would have thought if it was that bad the pubs or someone would have called the police . Maybe they did and there was no one available ...all at the Cup Final ..
Maybe it has been exaggerated .....these reports are from forums or blags or whatever ....just as you should not believe everything you read n the papers ....some rivals fans could be winding others up . Who knows for sure .. |
