So what now for At. Madrid

They come back in the Champions League but they are quite underdogs when it comes to winning the league or CL. How do they go from now? I don't exactly see them going back to the top, even with a talent like Aguero. They wanted their manager fired I heard, but his contract auto-renewed after reaching Europe.

What now for At. Madrid, what problem should they solve to become a big team once again?

Didn't they have a better season this term without Torres?

I think they're building well. Some really good signings last season and they play some neat football. What to do is generate stability and keep working hard on the pitch.

Depending on the rival that they have I think that they won't play in the CL next season because is very probable that have a difficult rival.

They need some stability. Next season they should aim for another CL finish.

Are they always set to be the underdogs of the top 4 (behind Barca, Madrid, Sevilla/Villareal), because whatever they do I don't exactly see the climbing to the top any time soon. Kind of a very bad version of Inter before Calciopoli (never getting to 1st place, always 2nd or 3rd).

Atletico de Madrid is the 3rd club in La Liga with more money and have 9 Ligas but in the last years they aren't doing well. Inter is and has always been a bigger club than Atletico.

Yes yes, but ignoring their history, they both finish in the top 4 or a little further in Atletico's case.

In the recent years Inter have been much better than Atletico.

I'm not arguing that, I'm just saying that for 18 years Inter have either finished in the top 4 without winning the league or a little under. I am not saying Inter are worse than At Madrid.

You mean they both come close but never quite make it. Under achievers. But Atletico to a lesser extent. Although i think it was a poor comparison, and just sounded like you were talking [beep!].

Anyway, Atletico need a better manager. They have a gread squad, but their manager is holding them back. My pick: Deschamps.

How is there manager holding them back when he just got them into the Champions League?

Theyre not consistent enough to progress as a top club, they dropped too many points in big games last season and were lucky to make the CL. Aguero and Forlan are a great partnership up front and they have a useful midfield but at the back they can be very shaky. With a few new players over the Summer they could challenge I think but they'll lose Aguero before too long Id imagine

They should be in the CL each season, he just happened to get them there because Sevilla aren't doing well after Ramos left.

I think they have the proper manager, they just need to get rid of players like Cleber or Eller. Need to buy a couple of good defenders besides Heitinga (nice signing btw) and maybe someone in the midfield. Forlan and Agüero have done a pretty good season and they should keep up front.

I was very happy to finish in 4th place last season and Atletico coped very well without Torres...

The key will be if we can keep our new golden boy Sergio Aguero as he will score goals for fun
again next season if he is given the right service so I just hope none of the usual suspects try and sign him..

Can someone tell me please about Jose Antonio Reyes...Is he still at Atletico Madrid or has he moved on?

Last I heard he was keen on a move to a bigger club, but until now he is an Atletico madrid player, and perhaps he is going to stay now that they have qualified for the CL and no big club is after him.

Yes, he's still a player of Atletico. He has done nothing during the season (has been also injured and had some problems with the coach), but in the last 3 games he managed to play and did it pretty good.

He did very well at Real Madrid in my opinion, very decisive in the big games.

I've always felt Reyes was overrated, even in his Arsenal days I didn't see him do much apart from the occassional spell when he'd score a few goals then go on a long drought.

They need better central midfielders. They are decent at the back and brilliant on the wings and up front but Motta and Garcia isn't a world class combo.

So what now for At. Madrid
